Melanie worked as the producer of Chris Cuomo’s show Cuomo Prime Time. As reported, Melanie tried to quit her job after the female producer and Chris clashed over “significant differences.” Multiple online sources claimed that she found Chris very behavior threatening. A source from CNN confirmed she felt threatened.
She had joined Chris in producing the show in April 2018. But, Izzy Povich suddenly replaced her in March 2020. A source from CNN confirmed that Melanie met CNN boss Jeff Zucker and asked to be take off Chris’s show and moved to another department.
While there also existed a rumor that Melanie was paid a handsome amount to keep the under wrap.
Melanie told Page Six, “I spent two years as EP on Chris’ show and I’m proud to have led it to #1 at CNN. We ultimately had significant differences, and I asked to leave the show. I have moved on and am looking forward to my latest role with CNN+.”
The news came after ABC’s Shelley Ross accusing him in a scathing New York Times op-ed of sexually harassing her 16 years ago by grabbing her buttock at a work party in front of her husband and co-workers. However, Cuomo denied the interaction was sexual.
Melanie produced Chris’s show through the early days of the pandemic when he regularly interviewed his then-governor brother.
She had quite the show shortly before Cuomo announced he had contracted COVID and retreated to his Hamptons basement.

Melanie attended Suffield High School. After graduation, she joined Boston College from where she earned her bachelor’s of Arts in Mass Communications/Media Studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
She started as a design coordinator for Addison-Wesley Professional in 2000. While working there, Melanie designed covers for retail computer science books, as well as brochures, ads, flyers, posters, and additional marketing pieces that were used domestically and internationally. Melanie also managed the production of artwork by collaborating with authors, marketing coordinators, and editors. Moreover, her responsibility also included training and supervising new designers by assigning and managing projects and overseeing workload.
After the work as a designer, Melanie then joined CNN as a News Assistant in December 2003. She worked in the position till August 2005 then started working as an Associate Producer. She worked in that position for nearly two and a half years.
Then, began her career as Anchor Producer to Wolf Blitzer which earned an award Emmy for outstanding live coverage of a current news story/ breaking news coverage for the Arab Spring/Revolution in Egypt. Anchor producer for Wolf Blitzer, producing and writing questions for all interviews from December 2007-December 2011.
Melanie served as full-time producer 2 for the 5 pm hour of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer where she managed the content of the program, managed writers, producers, associate producers, and production assistants. Melanie became a senior producer in March 2013 and produced The Lead with Jake Tapper from the show’s first broadcast, including handling production logistics, writing scripts and teases, dealing with all last-minute changes, breaking news, and timing the live broadcast in the control room.
From 2015-2017, Melanie became a supervising producer for The Lead with Jake Tapper. Then, she became executive producer for State of the Union with Jake Tapper. It was the last position at CNN which she held before joining Chris Cuomo.
