Christopher Myers And Joanne Chang’s Relationship
The year was 1995 when Christopher Myers and Joanne Chang first stumbled upon each other working at Rialto in Cambridge. Christopher co-owned the business and Joanne worked as a pastry chef. “We became friends right off the bat,” Joanne said.
But the timing wasn’t exactly right for their romance to bloom. Both worked long overwhelming hours and they each were had other relationships, on and off, as well. However, they did hang out sometimes and Joanne slowly began to wish they were more than just friends.
A year later, Joanne then left the restaurant but they stayed in touch.
Finally, in 2003, as they were on a bench outside, Joanne came clean, “Christopher, I like you!” Without hesitation, Christopher replied, “Chang, I like you too.” And the rest is history.
Joanne then moved in together with Christopher in 2005 at his condo in Boston’s Leather District. Three years later, the two got engaged and in 2009 they tied the knot.
The couple recently celebrated their 15th anniversary under the Eiffel Tower at midnight.
Just in case you don’t know about Joanne Chang, she is an honors graduate of Harvard College who left a career as a management consultant to enter the world of professional cooking. Also, she is the author of five cookbooks and Christopher’s business partner.
In 2016, Joann was awarded the James Beard Award for Outstanding Baker.

Christopher’s adventure into the hospitality business began at 18. However, he was pursuing a career in acting at the time. The day after he graduated from Newburyport High School, he moved to L.A. to be an actor. So, to earn his living he started working at restaurants on the West Coast.
Fortunately, it was right when the California cuisine explosion was going on and Wolfgang Puck came into the scene. Christopher was working at a restaurant called Michael’s in Santa Monica, and that was when he caught the restauranter bug.
Christopher later would also go on to work at Charmer’s Market, Michael’s, Mr. Chow, and Central Park.
In 1985, Christopher once tried to escape the industry and pursued a doctorate in literature at Harvard University. But he just couldn’t bring himself to forget the “well-stocked wine cellar.” So, he left academia for the third and last time.
Later, Christopher then met Joanne Chang and yet again planned on leaving behind restaurant nightlife. But one night, Joanne made dinner inspired by her mother’s Taiwanese cooking, and Christopher loved it. They immediately decided to open a restaurant that offered a fresh and personal style of Asian cuisine. That was how Myers + Chang came into existence. The restaurant went so popular they even sold merch like caps and tees.
Christopher has been featured in various magazines like Time, Business Week, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Playboy, and many more. Also, he has made appearances in TV shows like Unique Sweets (2011), and Unique Eats (2011).
As of 2021, Christopher Myers’ net worth was over $5 million. And as much as he earned, he liked to donate a part of it to local and national charities. So far, he has been involved with Lovin’ Spoonfuls, Share our Strength, No Kid Hungry, Community Servings, and Project Place.
