Despite not getting a lot of screen time in the premiere episode of Michelle Young’s Bachelorette, Pardeep Singh soon caught the viewers’ eyes as the first Indian American to ever get a rose on The Bachelorette.
Excited, he took had taken the news of his Bachelorette participation on social media writing: “I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m trying to fall in love! My excitement level is over 9, 000 🌹’s!!!!”.

Who Are Pardeep Singh Family Members?
Pardeep Singh’s ancestral family immigrated to Georgetown, Guyana when the British ruled over India.
In an Instagram post, Pardeep revealed his grandmother’s family was moved from India to the West Indies as indentured servants and was given 600 British pounds to “start a new life” in a foreign and unfamiliar land. That, when his grandmother moved to Brooklyn, she mothered 11 children, bought a home, and stayed with one loving husband.
He explained how his grandmother never once fussed about her circumstances, despite starting with nothing when she moved to the United States.
Pradeep, then, also shared, “I don’t know my family back in India, and I probably never will.”
Late in 2020, Pardeep and his folks were mourning the loss of his grandfather’s passing.

Pardeep Singh is a research scientist at Columbia University and a Vice Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the National Science Policy Network (NSPN).
In simpler words, he studies the brain to find cures for the likes of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
At the height of the COVID pandemic and after 3 degrees and 7 years in the lab, he secured a partnership at the SUNY Downstate Incubators for free BSL2 lab space which he transformed into a COVID-19 diagnostic testing facility.
As a Brooklyn native, opening this pop-up COVID-19 testing lab in the heart of the borough means a lot to him also because this meant he was able to bring testing to the same communities he was raised in that often did not have access to healthcare.
For the next year, i.e., in 2021, Pardeep promised himself to emerge as a leader in his community, share his vulnerabilities, find love, and break boundaries in the sciences and politics.
Even during his graduate training at the City University of New York, the science-policy enthusiast was not afraid to get political. He had written a handwritten letter to Senator Chuck Schumer on issues related to diversity in STEM and the lack of graduate-level science teachers in NYC public schools.
Further, Pardeep also released his Season 2 of Deep Thoughts podcast on Apple Podcasts in September 2021.
In 2019, he felt pleasure visiting the United Nations for the Economic & Social Council Youth Forum.
Looking back, Pardeep also realizes his entire life has been a struggle. Among others, he also had to fight through extreme poverty, a low-tier public school education, bullying, and supporting a single mother. He often believed his story did not matter. And this is exactly why he started Deep Thoughts believing one’s individual experiences can help build a brighter future for everyone.
