The New York Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that Malikah was discovered unconscious by her daughters in her Midwood, Brooklyn apartment at around 5 p.m. local time.
Moreover, the news of the death came less than a week after 2 men convicted for her father’s assassination were exonerated. Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Khalil Islam were cleared Thursday after spending over 20 years in prison for the 1965 killing of Malcolm X.
