Meet Kelly Anneken, Jeopardy’s Amy Schneider Ex-Wife
Kelly Anneken first met the love of her life, Amy Schneider, back when she was playing the titular role in Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew in 2004. Soon after, they fell in love, got married, and moved to Oakland, CA, for Kelly to pursue her career in standup comedy.
“We visited some friends who were attending Berkeley and fell in love with the Bay Area. So we moved to Oakland in 2009, and I, for one, never want to leave,” Amy recalled the moment.
Fast forward to 2016, after Amy’s father passed away, she began to contemplate life and realized that she was transgender. “I’m simplifying a process that in some ways had been going on my whole life, and certainly since 2011 or so, but 2016 was when I finally realized that I was living a lie, and began to let my true self show,” she said.
So, the Jeopardy star talked to her wife about her decision, and the two separated on a mutual understanding the very year. According to Kelly, they “still love and care about each other” but they’ve grown apart in “some crucial ways.”
Kelly was still the biggest supporter of Amy. She even appeared together with Amy after her transition. Furthermore, Kelly didn’t stop cheering the Jeopardy star even years after their divorce.
