Did Morgan Stevens Have A Wife At The Time Of His Death?
There is no information on Morgan Stevens’s marriage in real life. But, as an actor in a TV show named “Fame”, he played David Reardon, a married and divorced acting teacher. Since the producers and screenwriters didn’t have much time to develop a fixed idea as to what David should be like Morgan contributed a lot of his idea to the character.
Morgan saw David as an acting teacher who was teaching purely for financial reasons. Because David was divorced with a kid and has alimony and child support on top of his expenses, he needed money. Plus, David’s ex-wife planned to move to another state his character was afraid he would never get to see his kid.
Speaking with Fame Magazine in 1983, Morgan told his interviewer Kay Anderson, “It doesn’t parallel my background”. He added, “I’m not married, not divorced, have no kids. I want two of the three, though – to be married and have children.”
Up until the interview, Morgan wasn’t married even once. Morgan was explained to be a guy with a wicked sense of humor who was warm, emotional very sentimental, and romantic. He had chivalrous nature to the point that he opened doors for women and takes their elbow to usher them across a cluttered soundstage or up and down the steep steps to the makeup and dressing-room trailers.
Often on his neck, Morgan wore a medallion portraying St. Genesius, the patron saint of actors. He received it years ago from a girl he was in love with, as a good luck charm when he decided to go into acting.
Like his character David in “Fame”, Morgan also got married on a popular show from the 1970s “The Waltons”. One of his characters married ‘Erin Walton’ on the show where he appeared as Paul Matthews Northridge in 1981 and Sam Stadder in The Waiting. He also played Julie’s fiancé in two episodes of “One Day At A Time”.
Morgan Stevens Personal Life
In 1989, Morgan Stevens filed a police brutality lawsuit against two jailers of the Los Angeles Police Department. In the lawsuit, he stated that he was beaten by two cops, Thaddeus Stewart and Karl H. Josaphat, after a minor traffic accident. Morgan, 39, at the time, sought $10 million as a settlement. Under the agreement, which must be approved by the City Council, neither side would discuss the settlement amount which was later settled out of the court.
After six hours of negotiations mediated by a Santa Monica Superior Court judge, the actor told, “Let’s just say I’m glad this is behind me and I’m looking forward now to resuming my life and career”. Police reportedly arrested him in August 1989, on suspicion of driving under the influence after a minor auto accident on Pacific Coast Highway. The accident happened on his way home in Malibu from a doctor’s appointment. A blood-alcohol test later cleared him of driving under the influence.
The investigating officer mistakenly assumed Morgan was drunk because he had just taken a prescription pain reliever for a bad back, and that because of surgery on his vocal cords, he could not make himself understand. He contended that the beating took place after the authority held him for 1 1/2 hours at the West Los Angeles police station. Then they set him free after posting $500 bail.
The actor suffered a broken nose, a fractured cheek, a dislocated jaw, and nerve damage to the right side of his face as a result of the beatings, he said.
In an interview, Stevens said the injuries, coupled with bouts of depression as a result of the incident, “pretty much brought my career to a screeching halt.”

Morgan secured a starring role in a pilot for the proposed revival of the “Peyton Place” series. Then, he appeared in a T.V. Western movie called Hunter’s Moon.
