Heather Dubrow’s daughter Kat Dubrow came out as a lesbian in February 2022. And despite being fretted about it, Heather, mom to son Nick and his twin sister Max, Coco as well as Kat, said — “We’ve got four kids, they are different genders, different sexualities, and all at interesting places in their lives, figuring out who they are and where they belong as humans.”
The 2 February 2022-episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County saw Noella Bergener accuse her co-star Heather of having straight fragility. Heather had fired back “I have a couple of gay children. Don’t tell me that I have straight fragility”.
Less than a week after, the Dubrow family spoke with PEOPLE and Kat Dubrow publicly came out as a lesbian.
Kat came out as a lesbian privately to her family in 2021. Only then did she share the news publicly ahead of an episode of her mom’s reality show, Real Housewives of Orange County.
Kat as well as Max has also revealed that the isolation of the COVID pandemic was a huge factor in their journeys of self-discovery. “That was when I started questioning my sexuality. I wasn’t with friends 24/7. So I started to figure out who I am versus who I am with my friends”, Kat said.
Kat Dubrow’s Relationship With Her Father And Siblings
By the look of it, there is only an environment of unconditional love and acceptance in Kat Dubrow’s family. So Kat seemed close to her father as well as her siblings just as she is with her mom.
Kat herself shared how her mom, including her family, successfully creates said safe environment for her at home.
When talking about her recent coming out with PEOPLE Kat also specified how she felt more comfortable sharing her sexuality in a public forum because of her older sister, Max. To this, Max also said that she is happy she could serve as an inspiration to her younger sister.
Although from what Kat’s parents’ shared with PEOPLE, the news briefly caused tension between the sisters.

Kat’s father Terry Dubrow is a renowned plastic surgeon who studied medicine at both UCLA and Yale. As a television personality, he also co-hosted the show Botched with Paul Nassif and Good Work alongside RuPaul and Sandra Vergara.
