Meet Cameron Joshua, One Of The Murder Suspects In Rapper Takeoff Shooting
Click2Houston reported on 30 November 2022 that one Cameron Isiah Joshua was arrested in connection with the murder of Migo’s rapper Takeoff, birthname Kirsnick Khari Ball. Cameron was taken into custody on 22 November 2022 on an unlawful carrying of a weapon charge following previous a felony conviction in California.
Prosecutors claim they have security footage and an eyewitness who can prove Joshua was at the party with a firearm in court on Wednesday (Nov. 30). “We believe Cameron Joshua has been appropriately charged in this case and we’re continuing our investigation into the death of Takeoff,” lead prosecutor Matt Gilliam, said at a press briefing following the court hearing. The hearing was to determine if Joshua should be held with bond. It is reset for next week.
Christopher Downey, Cameron’s lawyer said, “Mr. Joshua was on bond for an unrelated matter, possessing a fake ID, and the case was reset to determine the conditions on whether he will be held at no bond because he’s alleged to have committed an offense while on bond or whether he’ll be given a bond.” Joshua had absolutely no involvement in Takeoff’s passing, he declared.
“Cameron Joshua did not shoot Takeoff,” Downey said. “He wants to get out. He wants to clear his name.”
Christopher did not say if Cameron or Takeoff had any prior relationships. “My understanding it was some type of social event, and some people were playing dice,” he said. “Beyond that, I don’t know.” Downey wouldn’t say if his client was playing dice.
“I haven’t seen anything to suggest that Cameron Joshua had anything to do with the shooting, that he discharged the firearm that caused his death or was he even involved,” Christopher said.
Back in January 2018, Cameron was also involved in serial ATM robbing. He and his gang members Brandon Jamal Pinson, 31, and Latrell Rayshod Phillips, 22, (at the time), were arrested in Williamson County as of Friday night for a criminal attempt to commit robbery, a 3rd-degree felony.
CBS Austin reported that police said members of the “5th ward gang” would wait until an ATM technician would begin to work on an outdoor ATM, typically a drive-thru. Once “cassettes,” (where cash is stored in an ATM) were made visible to the suspects, court documents state the suspects would either push over the technicians or demand the worker to give them the “cassettes” to steal.
Later in June 2021, Cameron was again arrested under two charges: FRAUD USE/POSS IDENT INFO#OF ITEMS<5, and POSS DANGEROUS DRUGS 483.041.
While Cameron was believed to be on the crime scene of Takeoff, Houston police also arrested another Patrick Xavier Clark. Patrick Xavier Clark, the suspect in the shooting death of Migos rapper Takeoff, has been booked. He was arrested on 1 December 2022 at 7:32 PM.
Additionally, Click2Houston reported that Patrick was planning to flee to Mexico with a large amount of cash. A document obtained by the news outlet explained, “The defendant shot a firearm into a crowd of people and struck the complainant in the back and head, causing his death. Further, a low bond is unreasonable and insufficient to ensure the defendant’s appearance in court based on his successful efforts to obtain an expedited passport shortly after the murder and an imminent travel itinerary to Mexico.”
Furthermore, after the news of Patrick’s arrest, Daily Beast reported that the alleged murderer is a popular strip club promoter. He goes by the name DJ Pat. According to the outlet, Patrick is a “well-known local promoter, who ran a strip club.” He reportedly ran “The Flame HTX, a strip club that Clark posted about regularly on social media to his 20,000-plus followers”.
Takeoff was shot on November 1, 2022, early in the morning, according to TMZ, which broke the news first. The sad news was later confirmed to The Associated Press by a Migos official. The entertainment news website published a video of Quavo, a rapper with the Migos, arguing verbally before the shooting started.
Takeoff is watching from outside the group, but he doesn’t seem involved in the argument. Following a conversation about playing basketball, approximately 10 rounds were fired from two separate firearms, according to TMZ.
Meanwhile, Cameron is believed to be one of the dozens who attended the party at 810 Billiards & Bowling that night – and who saw the violence unfold.
