When Return to Amish returned on TLC for its seventh season on 14 March 2023, Chapel Peace Schmucker was nowhere to be seen.
Naturally, this has led fans to wonder what has she been up to since appearing on the show’s third season. Here’s what we know.
Chapel Peace Schmucker Today: Is She Still Alive?
Per a news report by TMZ, Chapel Peace was one of 27 people busted in Pennsylvania after authorities seized $8,400 of heroin, more than $90,000 of meth, and more than $27,000 in cash, back in March 2016. Also, according to court documents obtained by several media outlets, she was charged and pleaded guilty to conspiracy/manufacture and delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver. She negotiated a plea deal and was released henceforth. This was not her first run-in with the law, though. In January 2013, she pleaded guilty to littering near waters and was required to settle a $209.53 fine.
That same year, in April, she also pleaded guilty to driving an unregistered vehicle and paid two separate fines of $25 and $103.50, and three months after that, she pleaded guilty to two counts of use and possession of drug paraphernalia. Initially, she was unable to post bail, and thus she remained at the Jefferson County Prison from July for a few months and was later released on $50,000 bail. When released, she was prohibited from consuming alcohol and entering any business that sold alcohol.
Fast forward to 2023, and there likely should be other reasons for Chapel’s disappearance from Return to Amish. To set the record straight though, she is not dead as many have been believing. She has been under the radar, yes, following some dramatic things that have transpired in her life. But, she has also been giving updates on her social media now and then. Just in February 2023 for instance, she wrote on a Facebook post about being cigarette-free for 48 hours.

In October 2022, she made a Facebook post in which she tagged the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, and revealed in the comments that she has a “clean bill of health”.
Meanwhile, during her time on the show, Chapel was also accused by some fans and fellow cast members of “milking” her illness in a way to create more titillating storylines for TV.
In July of 2016, costar Kate Stoltz also notably accused Chapel and the Return to Amish producers of faking the medical ordeal.

Her daughter is Kadence Peace. She turned 17 years old on 12 September 2022. Trying to think of the “perfect words” to describe her baby girl on her birthday on that day, Chapel gushed on a social media post how Kadence has been so mature beyond her years. The proud matriarch also wrote that every day she learns something new from her, that she has helped her grow in more ways than she is aware of and whatnot.
On the other hand, about her son Kolden Peace, Chapel said he is her best friend, funny and caring. This kid of hers turned 18 on 22 August 2022.
Chapel is really very protective of her kids. One time on Facebook, while agreeing to quote “You gotta have your children’s back for life not just until they are grown. I got mine until I’m in the grave”, she herself also worded “Come for my children I come for blood!”.
