Heather Jones had a traumatizing childhood experience. From being spanked every day to losing her loved ones in the Waco siege, the survivor has seen more than the “apocalypse,” the Davidians were preparing for. And now, with Waco: American Apocalypse revisiting 1993, she’s forced to relive the moments again.
This Heather Jones Bio explores her life.
Meet Heather Jones, Waco Texas Resident & Branch Davidian Survivor Featured On Netflix’s Waco: American Apocalypse
Heather Jones was one of the Davidians featured on Waco: American Apocalypse. She grew up at the Branch Davidians compound of Mt. Carmel Center, just like her parents as a generation member. Thus, she was always surrounded by loved ones, plus, even sect leader David Koresh was her uncle by marriage.
“The kids used to play in the front yard [of the huge property]. We had the go-karts there. It was like having… 100 moms.” she recalled.
Sadly, the world turned upside down in 1990 as her mother left once David abolished the whole concept of union/marriage for them. After her mother’s departure, she wasn’t allowed to be around her dad, and David subsequently began acting as her sole parent.
However, unlike David’s extensive sexual relations with other minors, he only spanked Heather. “I remember, like, talking to the other girls that were 10 to maybe 13; they would giggle and laugh about being one of [David’s] wives one day and having his kids… but not me,” she explained. It seems David would take her to his room, lay her over his lap, and spake her butt with a paddle if she tensed up. “He wouldn’t hit me until I was not ready for it. [This] was almost every day,” she added.
That was her daily routine until the siege began on February 28, 1993. Ironically, the fire that broke out the next month (on March 5) which killed 82 people became her savior.
All she now remembers of the morning of that fateful day is that a news person got lost and asked her dad if they knew where Mount Carmel was. He then told him what they were doing, and then her dad went straight to Mount Carmel and told David and warned everybody about it.
Where Is Heather Jones Today?
Today, Heather Jones continues to reside in Texas and goes by the name Heather Nicole Burson. She’s long forsaken “Davidism” and blames no one for all that’s transpired.
However, with each passing year, she gets a little more depressed; especially around March. “It haunts me every day of my life. To this day, I still don’t understand why. There were so many other ways to deal with it,” Heather said on the 20th anniversary of the Waco siege.
Also, she seems to have taken a stand against people benefitting from her family’s death. The last we checked, she slammed Ron Cole who claimed to be Davidian and a former FBI informant. “He’s just some guy who came a befriended a lot of the survivors and just decided one day he was one of them. He has a totally separate criminal past unrelated to the Davidians but he says it does. He’s supposed to be some big airplane artist but judging from his past & all his lies I’d be very surprised if he actually paints anything. He only sells “prints” on his website so I would bet my left leg that they are just printed off the internet,” she wrote.
