Netflix’s American Apocalypse: Meet Bob Ricks, Waco FBI Officer In Charge

What happened in 1993 was a terrible mistake made by both sides–US Federal Government and the Branch Davidians. It resulted in the deaths of 86 people–4 agents and 82 religious cult members, including 28 children.

Bob’s career in law enforcement career began in 1969. He spent a total of 26 years in the FBI. In his 26 years of time at the FBI, Bob served the institution in different roles: be it Inspector, Agent, Assistant Agent in Charge, Special Agent in Charge, or Deputy Assistant Director. However, he is most remembered for his handling of several high-profile cases, one of which was the 1993 Waco Siege.

Still today, Bob maintains his belief the leader of the Branch Davidians, David Koresh, was neither insane nor psychotic. “Probably the best description of him is a master manipulator. Did he believe he was Christ? I think it was to his benefit to believe that,” Bob told in an interview.

As for the fire that ended the whole siege by burning down the whole community of the Branch Davidians’, Bob says that the FBI did not start any fires. “There have been multiple independent investigations, and they know that we did not do that. If you believed your government was that vile and corrupt — I mean, how could you even support a government of that nature?” Bob told.

The then-FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge appears in all three episodes of Waco: American Apocalypse. Over the years, Bob has also appeared in other various TV series, including Oklahoma City (2017), Crimes of the Century (2013), The Secret Rulers of the World (2001), and Unsolved Mysteries (1991-1995).
