Ted Lasso season 3 hit the screen on March 15, 2023, and in its second episode, Ambreen Razia’s character “Shandy” was introduced to the fans as a friend of Keeley. But she wasn’t just Keeley’s friend. She was also Keeley’s PR firm’s consultant and a glamour model.
“She’s very mad. Funny. Very Essex,” Ambreen described her character. “I would say things on set sometimes and Jason [Sudeikis] wouldn’t quite get the Essex-ness but he definitely just went with it.”
Also, the actress added that there was also another level to Shandy, too, a far more vulnerable side. “She’s also insecure and desperate to make her new career work. It is the difference between whether she’s going to have a roof over her head or have food on the table.”
So, how did Ambreen prepare for the role? Well, Ambreen had a rather unique method. She re-watched a lot of Season 1 and Season 2 of TOWIE, just to get into and absorb the ‘Essex girl’ mindset. “It was both inspiring and pretty fun,” she said.
