Anna Gava full name Anna Volodymyrivna Gava came forward in the media in 2019 claiming that she is the biological mother of Natalia Grace. Gava revealed in a tearful interview dated October 2019 that she was “forced to give up Natalia 16 years ago when the girl was an infant.” She said that she could not take care of Grace after divorcing the girl’s father.
‘I know exactly how old she is,’ Anna, 40, told DailyMailTV through a translator. “This girl is my daughter who was born 16 years ago. Doctors told me to leave the baby: “Leave her, don’t ruin your life”
She said that the “baby would never be good” and would be “chained to a chair or to a bed.” Anna said via her translator, “She now lives in America with adoptive parents who want to ditch her. I thought everything was okay with her and it turned out that it’s not all okay.”
“Daughter, forgive me for what happened 16 years ago. Visit soon for me to see you,” she said. “We are waiting for you. You have two sisters and two brothers.”
The outlet allegedly obtained records from the orphanage Natalia was residing in, showing that she had been accepted in October 2003. There is no confirmation that Gava is Natalia’s mother as of the time of this writing. This is unquestionably the kind of tale that grifters of all stripes fantasize of.
In a new documentary, the biological mother of Natalia Grace, the ‘adopted child’ who turned out to be 22 years old, has been located. Her comments thicken the narrative regarding what Natalia Grace’s actual age may be.
In the show, the situation becomes even more complicated when we watch a detective searching for Natalia’s birth mother, Anna Gava, in Terniva, Ukraine, in the year 2020. Tatyana, Anna’s sister, is approached by the investigator and inquires about her sibling. Tatyana then calls Anna, who can angrily be heard shouting down the phone: “My God, why can’t they leave me alone? I do not want to talk to anybody.”
Anna adds: “It is 17 years, they are all going here and there to me.”
Karas notes that this would suggest Natalia was a child when she was adopted after all, given that the conversation took place in 2020, a full decade after the Barnetts gave Natalia up for adoption.
“This woman, Anna Gava, who is supposedly Natalia’s biological mother, just said she’s been going through this saga for 17 years,” she says. “Well, she said that in 2020 – do the math: that means Natalia may really have been born in 2003, which is what she has said all along.”
The unusual tale is the focus of a recent documentary called The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, which investigates the Barnetts’ claims that their adopted daughter is an adult sociopath who poses as a child.
Where Is Anna Gava Today?
Although not much is known about Anna Gava, rumors claim that she is a native of Ukraine and that she and her twin sister grew up in a close-knit household. She had a close relationship with Tatyana and Tatyana was aware that Anna had consented to allow a foreign couple to adopt her daughter, Natalia. Tatyana asserted, however, that since she sent Natalia away, the Ukrainian native had been pursued by the media, forcing her to lead a quiet life.
Additionally, Anna never confirmed publicly if she was able to get in touch with her daughter.
When Anna became pregnant with Natalia (known as Natasha in Ukraine), initially, she was pleased to be a mother. However, the physicians soon learned that Natalia would be born with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, a rare form of dwarfism. Because she would be unable to move properly and could have to spend the rest of her life in pain, they recommended she give the baby away.
Anna was unable to let Natalia go, so she made arrangements for Gary and Diane Ciccone, a couple from the United States, to adopt Natalia.
Natalia was brought to the US by Gary and Diane in 2008, but after a few months, they were seeking for a way out of the situation. In fact, the program said that they attempted to give her away to chance couples at various conventions for tiny kids and even phoned the police to arrange for an urgent adoption. Michael and Kristine Barnett then invited Natalia into their home.
