Where Is Hollywood Con Queen Hargobind Tahilramani Today?
In June 2023, several news outlets reported that Hollywood Con Queen Hargobind Tahilramani lost an extradition battle as a judge ruled “fraudster”. The 43-year-old Indonesian Hargobind Tahilramani is wanted in the US for a £1.5 million fraud in which he pretended to be a prominent film executive, including producers for Christopher Nolan, the filmmaker of The Dark Knight. He faces two counts of wire fraud, five counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
According to reports, victims received calls giving them the chance of a lifetime to work on a big-budget movie in Indonesia between January 1, 2013, and August 31, 2020. It is believed that Sherry Lansing, the former head of Paramount, Amy Pascal, the former head of Sony Pictures, and Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy were among those duped by the Indonesian “catfish.”
In order to entice creatives into his scam, Hargobind allegedly impersonated Wendi Deng, the ex-wife of Rupert Murdoch, by speaking in a high-pitched voice. Following an extensive year-long investigation by the FBI, he was taken into custody at a Manchester aparthotel charging £60 per night early on November 26, 2020. Tahilramani had insisted on having his case prosecuted in the UK rather than being extradited to the US.
He said that extradition would put him at risk of being deported to Indonesia and that jail circumstances in the US would expose him to cruel treatment. Additionally, he asserted that his mental state made it unlikely that he would be held in solitary confinement. The US authorities’ Joel Smith had earlier told the court that Hargobind had promised his victims work that would never come.
Eight counts total—two counts of wire fraud, five counts of aggravated identity theft, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud—are brought against the defendant by the US. If found guilty, the defendant could spend years in prison. Hollywood Con Queen said he led a fake life because he was gay during his extradition hearings last year. He also said that American prosecutors were plotting to harm him.
In 2023, Hargobind’s extradition was accepted by Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring, who forwarded the matter to Home Secretary Suella Braverman for a determination.
The court heard that Tahilramani, a.k.a. Amy Pascal, contacted freelance photographer Will Strathman via email and convinced him to go to Indonesia to oversee a trip series for Netflix. It is said that he paid about £40,000 in fictitious expenditures for three trips in 2017. Dan Considine of Los Angeles received a text message in May 2020 that was allegedly sent by producer Thomas Hayslip, who collaborates with filmmaker Christopher Nolan on both Inception and Tenet.
According to testimony given in court, Mr. Considine communicated with Tahilramani, who was impersonating “Dana Walden,” another producer who convinced Mr. Considine to send in audition films and spend almost $7,000 (£5,600) for martial arts training videos in an effort to get a part in a Nolan film.
Hargobind also posed as Gavin Ambani, a wannabe food influencer.
Additionally, he had attended college in America where, going by the moniker “Harvey,” he had engaged in competitive debate with a focus on “persuasive speaking” until he was charged with stealing another competitor’s argument. He had been imprisoned for making a bomb threat against the US Embassy in Indonesia; after being expelled from his college debate team for plagiarism, he had phoned in the guise of an enraged Cate Blanchett.
Hargobind had a reputation as a dangerous food blogger, so Yotam Ottolenghi barred him from all of his restaurants.

Speaking to the court in September 2022, Hargobind Tahilramani shared that his mother was born in British Hong Kong and his father in British India.
He added, “English was my mother tongue. They have told me beautiful stories about places like Whitby and Liverpool, London, Margate and they told me that someday I should go to the UK.”
Hargobind said in court that he was raised in an Indonesian community of Sindhi Indians who upheld “strict values.” The community expected him to be a girl when his mother became pregnant.
‘So the community thought that I was a mistake and I was never born to make any children and it was already prescribed as a child that I was the crazy one,’ Hargobind shared.
In addition to breaking the tale of the Con Queen of Hollywood, former Hollywood Reporter features writer Scott C. Johnson became close to Harvey’s estranged sister, who refers to her brother as a “monster” and revealed a lengthy history of violence, brutality, and deceit. Finding Harvey himself was far more difficult than convincing Harvey’s sister to talk to him as an investigative journalist.
