Counting On star Jana Duggar is ready to start a new life with her husband Stephen Wissmann in Nebraska. The couple tied the knot in a “classic, elegant” ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 15. in Prairie Grove, Arkansas in front of 500 guests.
Two months after they became engaged, the ceremony was held. In addition to sister-in-law Abbie Duggar, Jana’s bridal party consisted of sisters Jessa Duggar Seewald, Johannah Duggar, Joy-Anna Forsyth, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, and Jordyn Duggar. Jimmy Bob Duggar, her father, led her down the aisle. Prior to the wedding, Jana described the union as “a dream come true” in an interview with People.
The married couple met each other via families more than a decade ago.
“I remember them coming to our home, probably 13 or so years ago and they ended up getting snowed-in here, which hardly ever happens in Arkansas,” Jana told People. “I remember just playing games late into the night, doing puzzles together until the snow melted off, and they were able to travel back home I don’t really remember Stephen that well because I’m older than him and so he was not at all on my radar.”
Years ago, they got back in touch and tried dating again, but eventually called it quits. They remained in contact, and in 2022, her brother Jeremiah Duggar wed Hannah, Wissman’s sister. Earlier this year, they resumed their romance and found, “We still enjoy each other. We still really appreciate each other,” Jana remarked.
“Coming from two bigger families, we love to be able to get together and celebrate moments like these,” she said. “And so to have all of them there, it just means a lot.”
Between 2015 and 2020, 11 seasons of “Counting On” were broadcast. In 2021, TLC discontinued the program due to Josh Duggar’s indictment on allegations of child pornography. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s eldest child was found guilty and given a 12-year prison term. The show, a spinoff of “19 Kids and Counting,” ran from 2008 until 2015.
