When Taylor Frankie Paul caused quite a stir on #MomTok when she claimed that she and her ex-husband belonged to a “soft swinging” Mormon subculture in which they exchanged partners and engaged in all activities but for intimate intercourse, about the same time the controversy broke, Whitney made the decision to leave Utah and traveled for two months to Hawaii.
Whitney initially claimed that she and her husband Connor moved to “get away from the noise” of the swinging controversy in the premiere of their new Hulu reality show, but her co-stars felt something more was going on.
On Reddit, a few other ladies shared allegations that Whitney’s spouse had been discovered using the dating app Tinder. Whitney told her “It’s not true,” insisting that others “took his pictures from Facebook, his high school account and put it on Tinder,” according to costar Mayci Neeley. Whitney then reportedly questioned what the “real reason” was for her family’s relocation.
“I feel like we ran away from something. I don’t want to lie about it anymore. Taylor even asked me the other day … and I denied it again,” she said while sitting down with her husband, who admitted it was “probably hard for you to lie about that.”
Whitney and Connor discuss the Tinder infidelity scandal in a different scene from the first episode of the series. Seated on their couch, the couple acknowledged that they had hushed up the controversy to shield their family and that it was true that he had used the dating app.
Connor also expressed his regret for putting her in a position where she had to lie, and she later acknowledged that she had lied about the Tinder situation. “I don’t want to lie about it anymore,” Whitney tells Connor in the scene.
As he expressed his sympathy, Connor informed his wife that he understood “it must be hard” for her to keep the truth to herself. He added that he accepted full responsibility for using the app and that, despite the fact that his private life was made public, he didn’t want to be seen as the “victim” in their circumstance.
“These were actions I took. I had a real problem and it led to something that really hurt my wife I’m so sorry and I’m working on myself,” Connor admitted. “I really don’t care what anyone outside of my inner circle thinks.” Whitney expressed her anxiety about how her friends would respond to the truth, asking if they would “hate” Connor or “if they’re going to hate me for making the choice to stay with you. I want to tell them now.”
Regarding Connor’s p*rn addiction, Whitney shared, “There was more to that. He had been struggling with a p*rn addiction … there’s a whole story, there’s a reason why people do certain things. I think he was just confused. It’s something that we’re working through.”
Whitney and Connor have remained together after being upfront about their marital difficulties. The couple revealed in April 2024 that they will be having a third child in October.
