Just in: Texas congressman Van Taylor abruptly dropped his re-election bid (on 2 March 2022) after admitting he had an affair with a woman who has been described as an ex-jihadist “ISIS bride”.
Republican Rep. Van, age 49, was headed for a GOP runoff with Keith Self following the 1st March’s primary election in Texas’ 3rd Congressional District when he outed among supporters that he was dropping out.

After the conservative news outlet, National File revealed Van Taylor’s affair with British native Tania Joya, the widow of John Georgelas, an American who joined ISIS in 2013, Van revealed in his email his actions from a year ago have deeply hurt and pain those he loves the most in this world, his wife Anne Coolidge and their three daughters.
Van said he had an affair, it was wrong, and it was the greatest failure of his life.

And from what Joya claimed they parted ways with Van agreeing to give her $5,000 (but only in one condition that she kept her mouth shut).
Joya who did not keep the promise, in her defense, said that she did not intend for the story to blow up in the way it did.
