Remember Anthony Elle? Previously recognized as Anthony Williams, the first gay man to ever win a Project Runway show? Well, he’s now helping out Michel Smith Boyd on HGTV’s new show Luxe for Less.

Anthony Elle On HGTV’s Luxe For Less
HGTV’s new renovation series, Luxe for Less is just as it sounds. You can turn “nightmare” looking homes into luxurious, stunning spaces without breaking the bank. Michel Smith Boyd, with some help from Anthony Elle, Kai Williamson, and Laura Green Born will assist people in building forever homes, and it will be the best renovation one can afford in the budget.
Super excited for the premiere, Anthony took to his IG to write, “New Show alert!!!!!#LuxeforLess on HGTV hosted by @MichelBoyd Michel, @Kaistudio7 @lauragreenborn, and yours truly @AnthonyElle form an incredible team of designers. You have never seen a show like this.”
Luxe for Less, which premiered on December 1, 2022, was filmed in Georgia. There, Anthony worked with most of their clients in the Atlanta metropolitan area, and a few in Georgia cities, Johns Creek and Dunwoody are suburban areas located a few miles from Atlanta proper.
So, who came up with the idea for the show? Well, obviously, it was Michel who had this concept that he was “afraid to get too excited about.” But since he knew the show was going to be a hit, he contacted HGTV and received a call back in May 2020. Sadly, production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and only resumed a year later.
Now, he’s happy to be working with his friends who share his love for design.
Likewise, Anthony feels more than blessed to have been invited to be a part of the show.
Prior to Luxe for Less, Anthony frequently participated in the HGTV show Project Runway. Finally, he became the first gay man to ever win a Project Runway show in 2018. After winning the spin-off Project Runway All Stars season 6, the star said, “No matter how hard life is, you have a responsibility to show up. I have a responsibility to be a credit to the human race, my race as African-American, my gender, and my sexuality. I want my community to be proud of me.”

Ever since a child, Anthony was always interested in fashion. He used to wait patiently for Sundas to arrive at church and see women dressed so beautifully in their “Sunday best.” By 8, he was then already sketching and designing gowns for his friends. So, before he knew it, fashion design became his density.
“No one single experience has defined my design career to date – I’ve had a wide variety! Each of the following has enabled me to become more knowledgeable and experienced in my craft,” he added.
This talented designer first started his professional journey as a freelance designer for ALW in 2006. Two years later, he then went on to be a creative director at CP Fusao, and within another 2 years, he was already a competitive Project Runway challenger.
After battling out with other participants for years, Anthony then finally met this goal in season 6 of Project Runway All Stars. Thereafter, life was smooth sailing. His designs started to be featured on popular VH1 shows and he got the opportunity to dress celebrities such as Queen Latifah, Heidi Klum, Paula Patton, LaLa Anthony, Letoya Luckett, and Billy Porter.
In addition to designing, Anthony also is an actor who landed his first acting role on How High 2. Then in 2012, he graced an ep of Single Ladies.

As for his education, Anthony has a B.Sc in Fashion Design/Retail from the University of Alabama.

Anthony Elle was private about his love life. Let alone his partner, the star didn’t even identify with the “rainbow” part of the LGBTQIA movement until 2021.
In his defense, Anthony said that he wasn’t against the community, but within his immediate community, it was never a staple. So, since he was already in his 40s, he figured it was time to make a chase. “Cheers to PRIDE MONTH, the advocates, and all the beautiful individuals who sacrificed their lives for the movement,” he wrote on IG on June 1, 2021.

Anthony Elle comes from a family of six — his parents, himself, and three siblings.
Sadly, his mother Stephanie Dubose Williams passed away in 2021 at the age of 61. A day after she left this world, Anthony took to his IG to thank everyone who showed “love and kindness” to his mother and added, “In real life, It comes like waves drowning my soul with floods of tears. Sometimes even after the emotional currents, my breath escapes me. Is this shit happening for real?”
As for Anthony’s siblings, they are Edvon Duran Dubose, DeAndre Montez Williams, and Ke Ashonna Denise Smith,
Also, Anthony’s maternal grandmother Voncile Goodgain Dubose has long passed away. Unfortunately, we’ve no info on Anthony’s grandfather Jesse Dubose.
