Meet Brandi Chun from Netflix’s Dance 100. The new show features 100 renowned dancers and choreographers who have made name for themselves in the industry.
Dance 100, a brand-new reality TV series debuted on 17 March 2023. Compared to the dancing competitions that fans are used to viewing, this competition’s format is highly unique. Eight of the best dancers participate in the competition, competing against one another to earn a huge cash reward.
The performers on the show have performed with well-known musicians like Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Lizzo, Cardi B, and Jennifer Lopez. The difference is that these dancers won’t be performing; instead, they’ll be in charge of choreographing a performance for a group of people, testing their abilities to the absolute limit.
The show is hosted by Peloton instructor Ally Love overseeing the competition. Every round is crucial, and the stakes keep rising because the dancers will ultimately decide the fate of the choreographers. As the rounds go on, more and more dancers will join the stage, and eventually, there will be 100 of them there for the grand finale when the winner gets $100,000 and the title.

Brandi Chun On Netflix’s Dance 100
One of the contestants joining this competition is Brandi Chun. She created her first performance choreography for herself and seven more dancers. She was able to advance to the following round of 14 dancers thanks to the performance that followed. She avoided the double elimination this time thanks to her abilities, and she was a lock to go to the third stage where she was assigned a squad of 20 exceptional dancers.
Brandi was a standout throughout the contest and advanced to the semifinals. Each competitor had to prepare two routines for a total of 25 dancers for the penultimate round. Brandi was given the 1960s for her first dance, which was designed to reflect the participant’s allotted decade. The dancer’s assignment was anything but straightforward because she grew up in the 1990s, but she did her research, had faith in her team, and gave spectators an amazing performance.
In the semi-finals, Brandi was required to create a tale based on a prompt for her second dance. The concept of being a newcomer to the underground circus was much more difficult than anticipated. Yet the ambitious choreographer let her creative juices flow and came up with a routine that let her shine as the ringmaster and let the other dancers shine as well.
Brandi’s spot as a finalist was assured thanks to her ability to garner more than half of the votes from the Dance 100 team throughout such outstanding routines.
Brandi Chun had to prepare two routines for 50 and 100 dancers, respectively, for the finale, where she would face off against Keenan Cooks. She received supportive messages from her family in Hawaii prior to preparation, which gave her even more motivation. As one could expect, the final showdown performances were all jaw-dropping. However, because of Brandi’s leadership abilities and consistency in quality, the first season of “Dance 100” was won by her with a resounding majority of the votes.

Brandi Chun Career
Brandi Chun started dancing at the age of three and trained at 24-7 Danceforce Studio until she was eighteen.
She told Embrace Your Beauty magazine, “My mom put me in Hula and a movement class when I was in preschool. Apparently I chose dance over Hula because I said, “it was too slow” and that was the beginning of something that would become my life long passion and career; up until the age of 18, I trained at 24-7 -Danceforce Studio under the direction of Marcelo Pacleb and discovered my love for teaching and choreographing as well because of him. I moved to LA straight after graduating to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional dancer.”
She secured her first job immediately after high school and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a professional dance career. Her accomplishments include performing in “Michael Jackson ONE” by Cirque Du Soleil, the “Move Beyond” tour with Julianne and Derek Hough, and the Disney Jr. Tour.
Additionally, Brandi has created choreography for brands including Nissan, WeWork, and Rodan + Fields. In addition to traveling the globe to educate and engage people through dance, Brandi likes to create. Along with her performing experience, Brandi focuses on teaching as it means a lot to her.
Brandi added in the interview, “Dance is a universal language that has allowed me to find a genuine connection with a lot of amazing individuals. I am not the best at expressing myself through words so showing it through movement has always been easier. It is an art form that I have poured my whole heart and soul into for so many years that it feels selfish to keep what I’ve learned all to myself.”
