Camille Parsons opted to sign up for Lifetime’s Married at First Sight because she believes the dating app culture creates “a false sense of choice”.

“So much of dating now is people chasing that instant gratification and honeymoon phase,” Camille told Distractify exclusively. “Resiliency and pushing through the parts that get uncomfortable, and maybe less exciting at times, is what’s severely lacking in the dating world. I had a hard time finding someone who was truly as invested in the long term as I was. In a world with dating apps and social media, it felt like everyone was always looking for the next best thing once that.”
For the singles on MAFS, there are always essentials. Even while the specialists aren’t always able to aid, they do assist people when they can. And that means Camille has to locate a Black man. She responded that, as a Black woman, it was “very high” on her list of things to look for in a mate when we asked her whether that was her top deal-breaker.
“There were, and always will be, certain shared lived experiences and intangibles that I was really hoping to be able to connect with my partner on, especially if we’re talking about a lifetime to come,” Camille said. “I’ve always felt that that allows for the potential of an even closer connection.”

Camille Parsons is the daughter of Tracy Parsons from Urbana, Illinois.
In 1980, Tracy received his diploma from Urbana High School.
