Meet Cathy Latham, Coffee County Republican Party Leader
In advance of their anticipated surrender to the local jail, Cathy Latham is one of the fourteen of the 18 co-defendants who were indicted in Fulton County alongside former President Donald Trump and granted bond this week.
Former Coffee County GOP chair and executive committee member Cathy was charged with interfering with an election in Georgia along with former President Trump. She is accused of 11 offenses. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis began looking into 16 people who have come to be known as “fake electors.” Latham was one of those “fake electors”.
On December 14, 2020, Cathy and the other “fake electors” gathered in the Georgia Capitol to cast the state’s electoral votes for Trump despite Joe Biden having won the state by nearly 12,000 votes. The election and state electors were the subject of an email he wrote Cathy on November 12, 2020, according to Politico’s senior legal affairs correspondent Kyle Cheney. She didn’t reply to his questions.
Cathy frequently asserted the Fifth Amendment’s prohibition on self-incrimination during a deposition and argued that she had little memory of the events of that day.
Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee, who also set Trump’s bond at $200,000, is the signatory of the bond orders. The date for surrender established by District Attorney Fani Willis is still Friday at noon, and all defendants must report to the Fulton County Jail by that time.
Former chair of the Coffee County Republican Party, Cathy. One of the 16 Republican electors was she. She welcomed a digital forensics team to the Coffee elections offices in January 2021 that copied private election files ostensibly in an effort to demonstrate fraud. At the time, Latham served as the county’s Republican Party chairman.
Cathy, who taught economics at Coffee High School, reportedly moved to Texas after the trouble in Coffee County. She has been named the 2019 Georgia Economics Teacher of the Year.
“I am the under 80,000 Caucus Chair for the Georgia GOP. I’m over 129 rural counties of Georgia. I’m also the chair for the Republican Party for Coffee County,” Cathy testified.

Cathy is facing a total of 11 charges that list violation of the state’s RICO Act, conspiracy to defraud the state, impersonating a public officer, forgery in the first degree, criminal attempt to commit filing false documents, false statements and writings, conspiracy to commit computer invasion of privacy, conspiracy to defraud the state, conspiracy to commit computer trespass, conspiracy to commit computer theft, and two counts of conspiracy to commit election fraud.

Never once did I ever think I would see her on the front page of the “New York Times” or mentioned by my favorite daily news podcast. Honestly, the only thing that comes to mind is the movie “Forrest Gump” where Forrest finds himself on the news time and time again by accident.”
It further reads, “My mom has always lived her life with integrity. She has always tried to do what was right, even when people pushed back. When coaches would ask her to change grades, she would offer to work with the player, but the student would have to earn it.”
Regarding their political standpoint, Cathy’s daughter wrote, “She taught me to be a free thinker. My mom and I have never really seen eye-to-eye on political topics. I voted for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. I even volunteered for Hillary’s campaign in New York City and was at the Javits Center the night of the 2016 election. However, my mom has never stopped being proud of me despite our political differences. Most importantly, she taught me to stand up and speak out when I know something is wrong, so that is what I am doing right now. I want to speak up for the person who raised me to be who I am, the person I love, and the person I call Mom.”
