Claim To Fame Hud Age, Famous Relative, Dating, Job

The return of Claim To Fame on ABC has viewers wondering who the contestants’s celebrity relatives are including one contestant we know as  Hud. We think we know who the well-known relative of Hud is. Read everything there is to know about him by swiping down to learn about his age, his wife and children, and his famous relative.

Meet Hud From Claim To Fame

When Claim To Fame premiered season 3 of the popular ABC show, one contestant Hud appeared and shared a few clues that could help unravel details about his famous relative. Hud’s two truths and a lie are that his famous relative is his mom, who’s a singer, and who has a Grammy.

The ideal summertime reality series is called Claim to Fame: It’s casual and low-key enough to feel carefree, but it also sparks enough crazy conjecture to give the impression that it counts in some way if someone is Nick Cannon’s brother or Jason Aldean’s cousin. Moreover, it’s more satisfying than, say, The Masked Singer because we’re playing along at home with the contestants trying to sniff out their fellow celebrities before getting eliminated themselves.

On The Masked Singer, the show’s revelations can be anti-climactic due to Jenny McCarthy and company’s embarrassingly incorrect guesses. That stuff lands on Claim to Fame when it’s revealed that someone is Tom Hanks’s niece.

The competitors on Claim to Fame, unlike those on RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race or We Are Family, don’t necessarily strive to be well-known, nor are they frantically trying to stay relevant. Most of them seem to be in it for the $100,000 in prize money, which is nothing to sneeze at for the very unknown relative of someone who is actually famous.

Sure, some of them would definitely love to emerge on the other side with a few more social media followers and some name recognition of their own.

Claim To Fame Hud Famous Relative

Claim To Fame Hud is the son of rock and roll star John Mellencamp and model Elaine Irwin. His parents divorced in 2010 after 18 years of marriage. Besides Hud, they also shared a son named Speck.

In January 2022, John shared with PEOPLE that in 1991, Elaine gave the “girls” and “hangers-on” the boot from backstage in order to make the tour more family-friendly for the rocker’s five children.

“Elaine came out on tour with me [early on] and looked at what was going on. She goes, ‘This is not going to go on anymore. No more [random] people backstage.’ I said to her, ‘Why? I thought we were having fun,'” he recalls. “And she goes, ‘Yeah, if you’re 15. But you’re not 15 anymore. You’re married to me, so there’s nobody backstage.’ I said, ‘You go tell the band,’ and she did. There’s not been anybody — no girls or hangers-on — backstage at my shows since then. Her advice was good.”

Furthermore, John is also dad to Michelle with ex-wife Priscilla Esterline, and daughters Teddi and Justice with ex-wife Victoria Granucci.

Hud’s mother Elaine had three solo covers in 1989 and 1990. The first was photographed by the renowned Irving Penn, who dubbed the 19-year-old beauty from Pennsylvania “All-American!” The 5’11” beauty, who later starred as the face of Ralph Lauren and Almay, married John in three years, moved to the Midwest, and spent more than fifteen years of her life in Bloomington, Indiana.

In 2024, Elaine lives in Venice with her husband of seven years, media entrepreneur Jay Penske (owner of Variety, WWD, and Rolling Stone) and their 6-year-old daughter.

As for his brother, Speck graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design.
