Theater veteran David Dawson walked the red carpet for the first time all thanks to his role as “younger Patrick” in My Policeman. The film followed “Tom”, played by Harry Styles — a married closeted gay policeman — who falls in love with David’s character and they begin an affair.

David Dawson is gay in real life as well. So yeah, he’s soon to have a husband and become a husband as well.

An openly gay actor, David is proud to be a part of the  LGTBQ+ community. “It’s good to remember all of the incredible people and sacrifices that have been made over the years to advance the LGTBQ community that I’m so proud of,” he explained.

Infact, the actor regrets that for many years he let himself down by not being more extroverted; especially when it came to “schmoozing and stuff like that.” But then again, David’s never been good at the industry stuff. “I’m just no good at it. I never have been. It’s actually something that I’m quite proud of now,” he added.

So, how did someone who hesitates to “smooch” agree to act in My Policeman, a movie filled with gay s*x scenes? Well, David confessed that he didn’t know much about the earlier period of his own country’s history. So, when he read the script and realized that gay men at the time had to suffer a lot, “it kind of got into [his] gut.”

Thereafter, David worked day and night in his preparations for the role. According to the star, his close gay friend helped him get into the skin of his character and channel the mindset of young Patrick. “I have a man who’s very special to me who I worked with years ago, He used to tell me a lot of beautiful stories of him growing up as a gay man during this period,” he explained.

Now, coming to the s*x scenes, David shared that they did a lot of clips because the director wanted to show that “it’s tender and loving, and sensitive.”

David Dawson didn’t disclose the identity of his fiance. But fans believed that he was engaged to Josh, a mental health nurse, and author.

Reportedly, the two got engaged just before Covid hit the world in 2020 and were scheduled to marry in 2023.

Fans also claimed that the man beside David in this IG post is his fiance Well, it makes sense because the mystery man sports a large, black onyx engagement ring next to the silver McQueen snake ring his family bought him for his recent 40th birthday.

The last we saw David, he, his fiancee, and Dodger (their French bulldog) moved from north London to a Manchester apartment with a garden. “The pace is slower, you can breathe more. And I’m sick of sharing a wheelie bin,” the actor said, grinning.
