Meet Emma Broyles, Miss America 2022
Emma Broyles made history in Dec 2021 by becoming the first Alaska woman to win the Miss America Pageant ever. Moreover, she was also the 100th Miss America which added a different ring to the title.
That year, Emma was joined by 49 other contestants, among which Bradford, Andolyn Medina (District of Columbia), Leah Roddenberry (Florida), Isabelle Hanson (Illinois), Pierre, Sydney Park (New York), Abigail Hayes (Oregon), Mallory Fuller (Texas), and Sasha Sloan (Utah), went on to stand beside her on the top 10 finalists.
Then, each one of them went on to show off their impressive talents, where Emma sang “Let Me Be Your Star,” and slew it. Advancing to the interview portion, Emma then revealed her struggles with ADHD and dermatillomania (chronic skin-picking).
So, for the final round, the contestants were asked what they would do in a real-life situation, and again Emma wowed the panel of judges with her impressive answer, earning her the first spot.
Her question was what would she do if a male representative of a major sponsor made inappropriate comments or sexual advances toward her. To which she replied, “I know in my heart that as a woman, I am never going to let somebody treat me like (that), because women should never be treated like objects. “Women can be angry! We cannot be content with things that are happening.”
Emma not only won the crown, but also went on to become the recipient of a six-figure salary, plus a record $100,000 in scholarship funds.
Lauren Bradford, Miss Alabama, was crowned first runner-up, while Elizabeth Pierre, Miss Massachusetts, took home the second runner-up title.
Also, after her win, Governer Mike Dunleavy, Senator Dan Sullivan, and Senate Candidate Kelly Tshibaka of Alasaka each took it to their socials to congratulate the Alaskan star.
Who Are Emma Broyles Parents?
Emma Broyles might have a lot of fans, but her top supporters will always be her parents, Ron and Julie Broyles. After her victory, Julie (who is a high school teacher) took it to her FB to share a collage of pictures captioned, “They say you’re more likely to have a son play in the Super Bowl than a daughter competes at Miss America. Some might think the Super Bowl would be cooler. I disagree.”
“Emma is having the time of her life. The experience, memories, and friendships will last her a lifetime,” she added.

Her older brother Brendan, who has down syndrome, is a Special Olympics athlete.

Emma Broyles was working as a community assistant at Barrett, The Honors College at ASU as of 2021. Since she was still a student there, Emma had yet to embark upon a career-building job then.
