Alan Altman is the father of Millison Dollar Listing star Josh Altman. Josh recently took to Instagram to wish his father a birthday. He captioned the post, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOC! We love you more than anything and are so lucky to have you as a mentor, hero, boss, dad, teacher, friend, and much more. Happy 74th!”.
Likewise, on Father’s Day 2022, he paid tribute to his father John, and his brother Matt. In the post, he dubbed them as his “two favorite dads”. He continued, “(Doc Altman the patriarch and @themattaltman. We always say we scored in the dad category. Anyone who could put up with my brother and I when we were younger deserves a ton of awards. Alan’s wife Judith turned 73 years old in April 2022. She serves as a trustee of The Altman Family Foundation. They welcomed their son six years after their nuptials on 10 March 1979 as their second born.
Their first child Matt Altman was born on 29 April 1978. Matt received a BA in Communications from the University of Colorado. While receiving his education, Matt was the kicker for the Buffaloes football team. In Hollywood, Matt worked at the two powerhouse entertainment agencies Creative Artist and Gersh where he interacted with a very influential and high-profile clientele. Alan and his wife watched their two sons excel in careers as both of them established themselves as real state agents. They rose quickly in the real estate game shortly after the turn of the century. The brothers began by flipping houses, utilizing the idea of 100% financing. They wanted more though as they quickly flipped and sold more houses. They entered the mortgage industry, starting their own business and hiring buddies as employees.
However, the 2007/2008 real estate market crash floored their real estate business. “I couldn’t get out of bed for eight months, but I’m lucky enough to have my brother,” he told Entrepreneur. “We motivated each other. We found ourselves on the weekends driving around to check out houses just because it was free. And it was like, ‘Look, why don’t we just become realtors again? We love this!’ So we started doing that and slowly worked our way out of our hole.”
In 24 month period, two brothers sold about $500 million in residential real estate.
Moreover, according to Bravo, in the 11 November 2021 episode of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, Josh, and Matt gave their parents a tour of a house that Josh described as “one of the most beautiful mid-century moderns I’ve ever seen.” Little did Alan and Judi know, their sons had a major surprise in store: the $5.9 million furnished abode wasn’t one of Josh and Matt’s amazing listings. It was a gift for them.
