Juan Franco is an entrepreneur who founded Flight Mate App. He worked in sales so he traveled a lot over the years.
While sharing his story Juan said, he was constantly traveling five or six years ago; he would board a plane every other week or even every week. During that period, he became aware of an issue with the current mode of transportation, notably concerning seat selection. The original concept for Flight Mate, an app that lets you see who is on the trip and their flight habits so you can check them out before booking a ticket, came to Juan during that time.
In essence, Flight Mate is a social media site that links users and aims to improve the in-flight experience for passengers. Before making a reservation or selecting a seat, it enables passengers to view the people they will be traveling with in order to identify potential seat partners. In order to build a travel network, it also enables users to communicate with other frequent travelers.
Juan invested $72,000 of my own money and also raised $110,000 in a ‘friends and family’ round and established the business without a single loan for this project.
Before that, Juan was an account executive at Aluma Systems.
