The first competitor to get an engagement proposal on “Love is Blind, Habibi” was Karma Ben Messaoud, also known as “Caramella.” Regretfully, she and her partner Ammar were unable to get married. She acknowledged that their relationship had advanced swiftly and was a little concerned that their feelings might not be love but excitement. But she was also aware that she didn’t want to continue her relationship with anyone else. Karma said yes without hesitation when Ammar asked her to marry him.
Along with the other competitors, the pair retired to the vacation spot and had several enjoyable dates. During leisurely seaside lunches and yacht excursions, they conversed and became closer to one another. But things started to fall apart when Karma voiced reservations about being married, which annoyed Ammar, who was more confident about their future. The strain on their relationship became apparent as they adjusted to life in the real world. It was challenging for them to stay in touch because of their hectic schedules, and Karma’s love of dancing kept coming up.
Karma loved dancing, but Ammar had made it plain that he didn’t want his wife to do it in public.
“I don’t accept it in any shape or form, not any type of dancing… Look at it my way. Because you’d be my wife and partner. You can’t do anything that I don’t approve of or don’t like,” he told Karma.
The couple was unable to resolve their disagreement with Karma, stating, “Every person in the world has their own identity. It’s what makes them who they are. They sometimes have to sacrifice a relationship for something important… [Dancing] It’s not trivial to me. It’s a huge part of my life.”
Karma was dismayed when he stayed firm, as she had hoped he might reconsider. In the end, Karma broke up with Ammar because she valued her identity and her art more than their future together.
