Kayleigh Clark stepped into the American Idol season 21 auditions with a simple, pleasing performance of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance.” However, this wasn’t enough for judge Katy Perry so she asked her to sing her second song. Kayleigh then showcased her vocal prowess with her take on Hillsong Worship’s “I Surrender,” and won the golden ticket to Hollywood.
Now, that she’s further up in the season, she said, “I actually never had the confidence to do a show like that, but I did the audition and it went pretty well. I was really nervous but it didn’t feel like a competition.” Also, she added that everybody in the show was close to her and “super sweet.” So, overall, she had a good time. “It was a great opportunity,” she added.

Kayleigh Clark was introduced to the stage at an early age. She’s spent years competing in pageants, performing in talent shows, and walking the runway showcasing her modeling technique. No wonder, she felt comfortable in front of an audience.

Looking back, Kayleigh performed her first solo, “Happy Birthday, Jesus” when she was just 4 at a church. As she grew up, Kayleigh then got the chance to sing the national anthem at pro baseball games like Mississippi Braves and Biloxi Shuckers. “I have sung the national anthem at a few ball games, like Mississippi State and Ole Miss,” she said.
Now, she’s covered multiple songs such as “The Good Ones” by Gabby Barrett and “Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood and her new album is coming soon. “Kayleigh’s new album is a compilation of her favorite Country artists’.
