During the first season of the Netflix documentary series, which followed the NFL season and the 2023–2024 cheer auditions, Kelly gained a lot of fans. During the team’s makeover episode, Kelly famously changed her hair color from blonde to brunette and maintained it even after she was cut from the squad.
Kelly shared details of her parents’ divorce as well as her career as a dancer and eventual Rutgers University cheerleader, giving viewers a glimpse into her personal life. Kelly was ultimately released nine days prior to the team’s NFL debut. This summer, she reauditioned for the 2024–2025 team with Charly Barby, who was the last cut the season before. Kelly and 23-year-old Charly were among the ten rookies and twenty-four veterans that made this year’s squad.
“From setback to comeback, from blonde Kelly to brunette Kelly, I wouldn’t change my journey for the world!!!!!” Kelly added in her post. “The people I have met along the way, the lessons I have learned, and the growth that I have gained are things I will cherish forever.”
Then, she added further, “Chasing dreams is the furthest thing from easy, but if I’ve learned one thing through this process, it’s to never give up on them. This journey taught me the power of resilience and the importance of hard work and dedication.”
Kelly thanked the DCC organization for “trusting me to represent your organization” and acknowledged everyone who has helped her along the way. “I will do it with the utmost (sic) pride and honor,” she swore. In conclusion, she wrote, “It is an absolute honor and privilege to dance alongside such amazing women and to be a part of such an incredible organization. Grateful is an understatement.”

After that, she joined the cheerleading squad and dance team at Rutgers University, where she went on to win leadership and dance competitions her entire time in college.
Kelly is also StudioL Dance alumni who graduated from the institute in 2019. She said, “Diving into my new journey of being on a college dance team, I felt beyond prepared for what was to come. The life lessons I was taught at the studio are lessons that I carry with me in my everyday life.”
She added, “I would not be where I am today without the guidance and support of team Larkin. I will forever be grateful for the memories and experiences I gained throughout my amazing journey at Studio L I am so lucky to always be able to call Studio L my second family!”
Appreciating all the values she learned from the studio, Kelly also shared, “Along my journey at Studio L, I was taught the importance of determination, perseverance, and what it means to be a part of a team. These qualities guided and prepared me for the new life I had ahead of me.”
