Larry “Axman” Roach On Street Outlaws
Larry “Axman” Roach got into the racing early on. He shared during a podcast interview that he would race on the sketchy surfaces in Virginia. Larry watched his cousins race when he was around 10 years old. But, as he grew older he started working on cars and eventually built his own 1972 Nova. He explained to Dragzine, “Growing up, I had a couple of cousins that were about seven years older than me – I was around seven or eight and they were sixteen – and just watching them play with their cars on the street, it kinda got me, wanting to outrun them. I think that’s where I got the fever from.”
He shared that he loved driving the hell out of his car. Larry and his friends would often go to a bridge in Virginia at 12 or 1 at night and used to drag race until the cops would run them off.
Larry pursued a passion for racing and he had 64 Chevy Nova which he raced on 275 drag radial. But, the engines would blow up after every one or two races and it would cost him a fortune to fix it. After a race in Georiga, he and his wife came to their trailer and he announced that he quit street racing forever.
But, No Prep Kings came into his town which was just two hours away from his house. There were only two spots left to be filled and he signed up for it and had to compete against nearly 50 racers. However, on the race day, only a few people showed up including him, raced it, and secured the spot.
Larry shared that he had the time of his life racing at No Prep. He shared that he loved it because it took him back to his roots. He raced in Kansas and got enough points and he raced for the rest of the season in the show.
Larry has the most recognizable cars in No Prep because he has a giant ax on the front of his 1963 Chevy II, and another on the rear deck lid. After racing at radial and events for two years, he gave up his small tires for big ones.

Larry “Axman” Roach Job
Outside of racing, Larry “Axman” Roach owns a logging business. This is where his name “Axman” came from. As a young kid in rural Virginia, he watched his dad and his uncles work in the logging business. So, it was inevitable that he also joined the family business.
Larry explained to Dragzine, “Growing up where I grew up – living on a mile dirt road – we were poor, looking back. When you grow up as a kid you don’t realize you’re poor, and that you don’t have the money. I mean, we ended up playing barefooted; we didn’t have a clue We were living it up! We had family, that’s all we had. So we lived it up!”
Larry shared in one of his YouTube videos that the drag race was 10 hours a week but his logging business was 60 or 70 hours a week. He has registered a company named Axman Enterprises, Inc. that takes care of his logging business which was registered in December 2009 according to Open Corporates.
Larry “Axman” Roach Wife
Larry ‘Axman’ Roach is married to his wife Sarah. They have reportedly been married since July 2016 after getting engaged on New Year’s day the same year. He and his kids are parents to four kids; Nitro (age 8), Cam (age 5), and Nova (age 3). They are co-parents to their son Ryder (age 12) who came from a previous relationship. Besides taking care of Larry’s kids, she also actively involves herself in fitness.
Sarah had worked with her dad at their family restaurant in Virginia in Altavista. Her father Matt Mattox owned the place.
But, Sarah plays a huge role in Larry’s drag racing business. Larry boasted that his wife keeps his racing program together. He told No Prep that people don’t see how much she does to keep his team integrated. She holds it all together from loading the car, strapping the car, and packing up while he is on his phone trying to run the business alongside racing.
“She’s packing the luggage, food, making sure I’m on time, everything. And then it’s usually just me and her at the track. I probably couldn’t do it without Sarah. She does a lot more than people see, a lot more.”
Sarah is a die-hard competitive fan of drag racing. And their kids are also on the same path. They compete with each other giving names. For Larry to see his children walk with the stars he used to see on TV, was his greatest experience.
Together, Larry and his wife, Sarah also have a YouTube channel named ‘Axman & Axlady’. Their most recent video was of Sarah’s birthday when she turned 35 years old on New Year’s Day.
