Meet Madeline Gaudreau, Matthew Gaudreau Wife
Madeline Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau were together for almost 15 years until Matthew’s untimely passing along with his brother Johnny Gaudreau on 29 August 2024.
“Best 14 years of my life 🤍 I will cherish those years and you for the rest of my life,” Days after her husband’s death, in September 2024, Madeline posted on Instagram. “I want you to come back home,” Madeline wrote via her Instagram Story in September 2024. “Miss you so much and love you so much, baby.”
Matthew and Madeline were teenagers when they started dating in 2013. The two went to New York City to celebrate Matthew’s 22nd birthday in December 2016. Madeline captioned the birthday post, “Happy ((22)) Birthday!! My Love. My truest friend, His company is something I will never grow tired of. Another year older and another year wiser. My admiration and gratitude for you runs so deep. Today && Forever I love you. ❤️.”
In February 2017, the couple celebrated 4 years of their relationship. As a tribute post to their relationship, Matthew took to his IG and wrote, “Happy 4 years to this beautiful woman. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you. I love you always.”
Six years into their relationship, Matthew proposed to Madeline in New Jersey. He announced their engagement via a post writing the caption jokingly, “Didn’t think she would say yes!”
Two years after their engagement, Madeline and Matthew got married in Elmer, New Jersey in July 2021. Sadly, two months before Matthew passed away, he and his wife announced they were expecting their first child. The baby is due in December.
On August 29, while bicycling in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, Matthew and Johnny lost their lives. We verified that the individual believed to be intoxicated was operating the car that collided with the siblings. After the crash, the driver was taken into custody and accused of killing someone. Guy and Jane, Johnny and Matthew’s parents, as well as sisters Kristen and Katie, survive them.
Furthermore, Johnny—a Columbus Blue Jackets player—left behind his spouse, Meredith, and their two kids, Noa and Johnny Jr.
Matthew is survived by his wife and their unborn kid. A GoFundMe was set up to support Madeline and their unborn baby Tripp.
“In this unimaginably difficult time, we are coming together to support Matthew’s wife, Madeline, and their growing baby Tripp, and help alleviate some of the financial burdens they now face,” the GoFundMe for Matthew’s family reads. “Your support will allow them the time to take off work to grieve and heal as a family.”
Contributions to a GoFundMe page established for the unborn baby Tripp and the widow Madeline of the late hockey star Matthew Gaudreau have surpassed $600,000.
Following the sad deaths of the hockey player and his brother, Johnny Gaudreau, at the hands of a suspected drunk driver, Madeline vowed to persevere for their unborn kid. “I have no words I just miss you I don’t know my life without you,” in a devastating Instagram post on Saturday, Madeline wrote to Matthew.
In addition to expressing her shock at her husband’s unexpected passing, Madeline stated she has never felt “pain like this” and feels grateful that he decided to love and marry her.
“You are the best thing about me,” she wrote. “I know you are watching down in just as much pain as I am looking up I will keep going for you and our son I love you so much Matthew.”
Madeline also thought about how close Matthew was to his brother Johnny. “It was always Matty & John. I can’t even put into words the bond these two had and right now I don’t have the strength,” she wrote in another Instagram post Sunday. “They were each others [sic] biggest cheerleaders.”
In reference to Johnny’s two young children, Madeline said, “Matt looked up to John in so many ways but the most important was the father he was to Noa & Johnny.” Madeline revealed that knowing that Johnny and Matthew “are together, as they always were” gives her “extreme comfort.”
“I know they are still messing with each other up there and will continue to look over their families,” she continued.
Madeline also shared her love for Johnny’s wife, Meredith Gaudreau. She wrote, “We will forever share this extreme heartbreak and terrible bond.. however, the boys couldn’t have picked a stronger woman as their wives and mothers of their children. We will carry each other through every season .. as the boys would do for each other.”
