Meet Joe Millionaire Butler, Martin Andrew
The original ‘Joe Millionaire’ show first aired in 2003. In the show, 20 women flew to France to compete for the heart of a gentleman they believe was a millionaire. But, that male cast is nowhere near a millionaire but worked as a construction worker making the average wage that was far from millions.
By the end of the show, when he makes the connection with one particular woman, he had to reveal that he wasn’t a millionaire reveals his financial situation. But, the show has returned in 2022 as a spin-off named ‘Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer’. The difference between the original show and the spin-off is, there are two male casts (one rich one poor) and both pretend to be rich.
But, there is one other character in the show who stood out, the butler. There was a butler on the original show (Australian Paul Hogan, but not the “Crocodile Dundee” actor). There was also a host (Alex McLeod) and there is again in the spin-off. The person playing the butler as well as the host in 2022 is Martin Andrew. He acts as a guide for the contestants.
SallyAnn Salsano, the executive producer told, “I honestly fell in love with this guy,”. “It was the right fit. This guy was great. I felt like it’s more integrated [than the 2003 version]. I feel like this gentleman is way more a part of the show.” She also noted that Andrew conveyed a sense of protectiveness for the show’s two male casts and the female contestants.
“He has daughters the age of the women on the show, and I have to tell you, one night I sat in the control room crying as he was saying something like, ‘I’d be proud for my daughter to be with either one of you gentlemen.’ He got so invested, I think in a way that it didn’t happen in the original.” SallyAnn shared with Variety.
