Who Are Chef Richard Blais Family Members?
Chef Richard Blais came from a family of four: his parents and his sister. Richard the oldest of two children, was born in February 1972. Richard Blais has had a significant impact on the hospitality industry for the past 15 years and is best known for being the winner of Bravo’s Top Chef All-Stars. Like so many young, aspiring cooks, he started his career working as a McDonald’s “Poissonnier.”
He first experimented with deconstruction in the kitchen here, serving Filet-O-Fish sandwiches without the top bun. Richard attended The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, as a result of his growing interest in both cuisines and the service sector. As a driven student, he spent his free time between semesters learning under legendary Chef Thomas Keller at the French Laundry in Yountville, California, where he also met budding culinary stars Grant Achatz and Eric Ziebold.
Richard moved to New York in 1998 after earning his CIA degree in order to work at Chef Daniel Boulud’s renowned Restaurant Daniel. He then traveled to Roses, Spain, in accordance with his professional compass, where he finished a brief stage at El Bulli under the guidance of renowned chef Ferran Adrià.
Richard moved to Atlanta in 2000 to manage a regional seafood concept. His extremely inventive approach to cooking and food led to the founding of Trail Blais, a cutting-edge culinary firm that has advised on, created, and run some of Atlanta’s most well-known restaurants, including numerous locations of Flip Burger Boutique and HD-1.
Since then, he has been a part of many TV shows. Richard has also appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Live! with Kelly and Michael, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, as well as in numerous publications, including The New York Times, InStyle, and Food & Wine magazine.

Chef Richard Blais is the son of Kenneth “Kenny” Blais. He was born in July 1953 to Louis J. and Martha E. (Crow) Blais. He has a brother named James C. Blais of Hempstead, New York. Sadly, his sister died on 3 September 2013 at the age of 56. She had earned her BA, Summa Cum Laude in English at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
Kenny’s brother James works as a Principal Estimator at Telephonics.
As for Kenny, he was a technical director at ONE World Sports in 2013. He also worked as a freelance video director and editor. Moreover, he also worked at MTV in the role of Network Associate Director. Furthermore, he also served Production by Design and at Encompass Digital Media as a master control operator.
Sadly, Kenny passed away in early December 2020. After his father’s death, Richard posted on his IG, “So my dad passed away a few days ago. You know how it goes, you find old pictures and think back. I know he’d love this picture because it showcases his early 80’s Keith Hernandez phase. I know he’d love this picture because he loved coaching my little league teams. So much so that it was the last text he sent me. I love it because I can’t remember ever holding my dad’s hand, but I sure wish I could again. RIP DAD.”

Chef Richard Blais lost his mother before his dad. Though there are a few pics on his social, her name is not available at the moment. But, we know that she passed away in June 2010.
How Many Siblings Does Chef Richard Blais Have?
Chef Richard Blais and his sister Lori Blais are the only two children born to his parents. They have an age difference of 9 years. On Richard’s birthday in February 2022, Lor took to her IG and wrote, “People are always shocked when I tell them that my brother is 9 years older than me. Here is my sweet big brother holding me as a baby for proof. Happy birthday, @richardblais! You have certainly aged well.”
On siblings day 2020, Lori paid tribute to Richard via an IG post. She wrote, “Happy #SiblingsDay to my hero; my inspiration; the guy who convinced me to give up my bottle 35 years ago. Encouraging healthy habits for decades! @richardblais.”
Lori is married to her husband James Barraud and has two children. The married couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in April 2022. Whereas, they have been together for 21 years as of February 2023. Talking about Their children, their daughter is named Avery. And their son is named Cameron.
