Who Are Ming Tsai Sons?
Emmy award-winning chef Ming Tsai had two sons with his wife Polly Talbot who he married in 1996. The family was embroiled in turmoil when Polly was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in October 2017. During this difficult time, Ming and his sons stayed together and stood by his wife’s side hoping for the better.
Polly is reportedly undergoing a pill treatment the cost of which is estimated to be $17,000.
Based on the recent post, Polly appears to be doing well. On Mother’s Day 2022, Ming shared a snap that was taken during a hike. He posted, “Happy Mother’s Day!!! The most amazing mom that taught our boys the most important thing, Be Kind (and women are smarter) May we continue exploring new trails and living each day to its fullest……love you”.
He also featured her in March 2022 as the chef celebrated International Women’s Day. Along with a picture of his wife, he added, “Celebrating @internationalwomensday The most courageous, beautiful, witty and fun partner anyone could have. The best mom and wife, more each day…”
Likewise, Ming’s beloved sons are also very close to his heart. On the occasion of Father’s Day, he posted, “These 2 boys are my best recipe!! The proudest thing I have ever done was father these kinds, caring, loving, smart, respectful (eye-contact-when firmly-shaking-your-hand-and-toasting) talented, hard-working, and just plain fun children. I am so grateful to be your father! Everyday is #fathersday #attitudeofgratitude #bekind”.
On National Sons Day 2020, he wished his two boys, “Happy #nationalsonsday I am so lucky, blessed and proud to have these 2 boys in my life! @tsai.guy @enterjohngalt #bekind #heard”.
Ming grew up with one household rule “Everyone tries once. If you don’t like it, no worries”. While speaking to CookingLight, he revealed that he raised his sons and they lived by the same rules. Although he has encouraged his sons to enjoy life with an open palate he admitted that if either of his sons chose to be a chef, he would be on proud father.
Meet Ming Tsai Son, Henry Tsai
Henry, Ming Tsai’s younger son, knows what he likes when it comes to food. He likes anything with soy sauce, my restaurant’s crispy calamari, pot stickers, Nai-Nai’s spring rolls, any vegetable (as long as it is cooked with garlic and/or onions), all stir-fried noodles and rice dishes, and all land creatures.
Ming explained that Henry has an amazing palate, which begins with his ultra-sensitive nose. He told a story to CookLight, that once, at age 6, Henry smelled a wine he was swirling and sniffing, and pronounced that he detected “cooked cherries”.
Ming said, “Henry had never smelled cooked cherries! He had extrapolated from eating the raw fruit. I like to think he has a chef’s soul”.
