Stephanie Toback is James Toback’s second wife. It’s unclear exactly when the two started dating or got married but we do know that it was after 1969.
Prior to that, James was married to Consuelo Sarah Churchill Vanderbilt Russell, the daughter of Lady Sarah Spencer Churchill and second cousin of Winston Churchill. They were married for just a year.
Now, coming to the present (2022), Stephanie’s husband James is accused of using his status in the industry to lure and sexually abuse more than 3 dozen women over the last four decades. As per the lawsuit filed with a New York state court, James used a repeated ploy to target potentially hundreds of victims.
In read, “Defendant Toback targetted young women using the same ruse over and over again with hundreds of victims, often using the same lines, enablers, and locations where he was able to perpetrate his abuse upon unsuspecting young women, including Plaintiffs, for decades.”
Bradley Beckworth, an attorney for the women, hoped that as people learned more about the case, they’d “find out that they weren’t alone.” He added, “When abuse like this happens, it can be very isolating, depressing, and scary.”
The lawsuit also claimed that a part of James’ routine included prowling the streets of Manhattan to approach “unsuspecting young women.” Allegedly, he used his Harvard Club of New York City membership to lure the women, treated them to meals and drinks, and attacked them in the club’s “dining room, stairwells, bathrooms, and hotel rooms.”
So, yes lawsuit is accusing the club of “gross negligence and other unlawful conduct.”
As for James, he denied the allegations at the time. Previously, he even told Rolling Stone that anyone who accused him of sexual harassment was a “lying c*cksucker or c*nt or both.”
