Leigh didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a sports broadcaster. When he went to university, his formal education was in education he worked as a school teacher. He didn’t have a journalism degree or a communications degree and ended up getting into television through his commentary. The two-wheel enthusiast began by making announcements at a nearby flat track motorbike track in Brisbane, Australia. Since then, he has worked his way up to the top of the off-road motorcycle racing commentary ladder, providing play-by-play for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.
However, announcing in the United States was not even the 53-year-old’s ideal career path when he initially took the mike as a public address announcer. In 1996, the physical education teacher reached a turning point in his career where he decided to fully commit to becoming an announcer. Since then, he hasn’t looked back.
