Miko Kaw Hok Uy On Netflix’s Is It Cake, Too?

Is It Cake, Too? Contestant Miko Kaw Hok Uy improved the most famous artwork in the world so delectably that it may finally explain the Mona Lisa’s enigmatic grin in Season 2 of Netflix’s baking competition. In the show, competitors attempt to mislead judges with hyperrealistic culinary masterpieces.

The traditional oil-on-canvas design was totally recreated using layers of cake filled with peanut butter buttercream and covered in dark chocolate. a raspberry puree drizzle, followed by peanut brittle.

“Everything you see with this Mona Lisa is edible, including the frame, which is made of chocolate,” Miko, a New York City artisan told USA Today. “I even used edible paints.”

The contestants in Mikey Day’s “Saturday Night Live”-hosted 2022 viral smash “Is It Cake?” painstakingly recreated items like a bowling ball, stacked red Solo cups, and leather purses. However, Miko (referred to on the show as “Miko-Angelo”) seemed unfazed by the fine-art masterpiece challenge vying for the $75,000 grand prize.

“No one has ever attempted anything like this on the show. Just the sheer spectacle of it was remarkable,” says executive producer Dan Cutforth. “It did seem like that would be impossible. But he defied all expectations.”

In contrast to Da Vinci, he had only 10 hours to make his Mona Lisa dessert.

Miko spent the majority of his time on the program painstakingly painting the Mona Lisa on a canvas made of tempered chocolate. Realistic gold coloring—edible gold dust mixed with vodka—was put on the rigid frame after it had been finely detailed with a knife heated by a blowtorch.

“The Mona Lisa is the most famous painting in the world. So everything had to be precise,” Miko explained. “Make one thing off and everyone knows it’s a fake. And you really have to capture that smile. That was the most difficult part.”

Miko experienced moments of contained panic wondering if he could re-create the painting in time. But just before the deadline, it was clear he “nailed it.” “I am very proud of it, especially given the time limit. If you put them side by side, it could pass as the original.”
