Dr. Emma Craythorne wasn’t alone on her journey to perform miracles on her patients’ skin. The Save My Skin star was also joined by a capable team of plastic surgeons, nurses, and phototherapy specialists. Nurse Rosanna Degala was a part of that team.

Nurse Rosanna Degala On Discovery Plus’s Save My Skin
TLC’s Save My Skin documented the life of those living with extreme skin conditions as they visited Emma Craythorne’s UK clinic for treatment. Severe acne, rosacea, eczema, and other rare skin disorders, the show always found solutions to skin problems. And performing these miracles were Emma and her team of capable plastic surgeons, nurses, and phototherapy including Richard Young, Ciaran Healy, Alastair MacKenzie Ross, Barbara Jemec, Monic, and many more.
But among them, only nurses Rosanna and Mottie made consistent appearances on the show. (They both joined the show in its third season).
Initially, Save My Skin premiered in 2019, replacing the classic Dr. Pimple Popper which had already run through 53 episodes. The show followed Craythorne’s examination and diagnosis, but with an addition of the best part — the treatment.
One of the strengths of the show was the way it featured the emotional impact that skin conditions have on patients. It was heartbreaking to see how many of them have been living with their condition for years, and have dealt with feelings of insecurity, shame, and anxiety as a result. Rosanna alongside her team was not only able to address the physical symptoms but also provide emotional support, helping patients regain their confidence and self-esteem.
Nurse Rosana Degala Career
Nurse Rosana Degala is a Dermatology Nurse. She was registered in the UK, Australia, and Singapore.
The last we checked, she worked as a Consultant Dermatologist at the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group, Klira. The group was founded after being frustrated by “the waste and mis-selling” in skincare. “Despite all the hype around wonder ingredients, there are only a handful that actually have the power to change your skin. And even then, the ingredients alone aren’t enough. That’s why I set up Klira,” founder Emma Craythorne explained.
At Klira, Rosana decodes her clients’ skin in a “meaningful way” and then delivers a tailored routine and formula – The Klira Special — that is not only blended to ensure maximum absorption and efficacy but also is gorgeous to use.
Her specialty included assisting Mohs with micrographic surgery, advanced skin surgery, and laser therapy. She also worked with nurse-led services for minor surgery, wound management post-dermatological procedures, Photodynamic therapy, and Botox.
The Klira team included Dr. Cristina Psomadakis (MD MBChB Specialist Registrar in Dermatology), Dr. Rhonda Meys (MBChB FRCP CCT Derm Consultant Dermatologist), Dr. Emma Craythorne (MBCHB FRCP CCT Derm Consultant Dermatologist), Natalie Bloomfield (RN), Sister Mottie Hatsady (RN), and Sister Rosana.
The team’s approach to skincare was unique as they strived to find holistic solutions that go beyond just topical treatments. They recognized that the skin is a reflection of a person’s overall health, and so they addresses the underlying causes of each condition — which may involve dietary changes, stress management, and supplementation. This holistic approach indeed is refreshing, as it goes beyond just prescribing medication and supports the patient’s overall physical and mental well-being.
As for her education, she received her BSc in Science (Nursing) and MSc in Skin Lesion Management from King’s College London and St John’s Institute of Dermatology, respectively.
