When the April 17th episode of the American Idol Season 21 aired, something strange happened as host Ryan Seacrest announced that one of the Top 26 Finalist contestants had dropped out of the competition but did not bother to reveal his/her name. Seacrest, instead, revealed that ex-Season 21 contestant Paige Anne would fill in the void.

American Idol: Who Are Paige Anne Parents?
Although Ryan did not disclose the identity of the contestant who dropped out of the competition, singer Beckett McDowell confirmed through an Instagram story that he had made it to the Top 26. Speculations suggesting that Beckett was the one to quit the show began Sunday (April 15) when the show’s official Instagram shared a video of the top 26, which seemed to feature Beckett.
Paige Anne, who was defeated by Megan Danielle at the end of Hollywood Week by a small margin, became the “first alternate” to rejoin the show. “I said goodbye to ‘Idol’ and everything. Then I got invited back. Everything happens for a reason,” Paige told.
Paige made a grand return to the popular ABC show with an impressive rendition of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”–a performance which made even judges feel that they’d made a mistake not letting Paige enter the Top 26 in first place.
Talking more about Paige Anne’s musical career, she has been a featured singer in the country-rock cover band, Almost Famous.
