When Netflix debuted the first season of Fate: The Winx Saga in 2021, it was met with surplus criticism from fans. Because the modern-set fantasy, inspired by Nickelodeon’s animated Winx Club, did not include Flora. It was instead substituted by a new white character named Terra (Eliot Salt).
So, when the show’s second season launched on 16 September 2022, the fan-favorite character, Flora was finally introduced to fans in form of actor Paulina Chávez.
Flora is described as free-spirited and well-traveled. She is adding to the dynamic between Bloom Peters (Abigail Cowen) and the fairies in the suite. While in Paulina’s words, she is very much a person that cares about people a lot, and that is what makes her so easily lovable. The actress also shared that among other things embodying Flora’s confidence was a challenging part. “She really controls the room when she’s in it, and that’s something that I had to learn to do. I’m a little shy,” she confessed.
As to prepare for the role, Paulina said she wrote pages and pages of internal dialogue. She revealed that she also wrote a letter as Flora to herself and then burned it, almost like a ritual.
