Rick started as a greenhorn in 1997, quickly moving his way up to deckhand, then engineer, then captain of F/V Aleutian Lady. Using his broad experience in the longline, pot cod, and crab fisheries, in 2012 Rick Jr. transitioned into the fleet management position where he is responsible for overall vessel readiness and troubleshooting. Rick Jr. is well-versed in refrigeration, hydraulics, and propulsion systems.
He works for his father’s company Shelford Fisheries.
The season will feature the youngest and most varied cast yet on the reality series as a new generation of captains, including a renowned author, rookie captains, and a deckhand hoping for more, pair up with fan-favorite skippers.
