Ruby Bhogal Post-GBBO: What Is She Doing Now?
If you are a fan of the “Great British Bake Off” then you know that Ruby Bhogal is the finalist from the season in 2018. Now, she returned to the show again for GBBO: Holidays season 4. Like her, all the other contestants are familiar faces who competed in the previous seasons. In the baking competition, we saw four contestants.
Moreover, this holiday special series which premiered on 3 December is bringing the tasty competition to our TV screen with judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood and hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.
Other contestants accompanying her are Jamie Finn from GBBO 2019, Rosie Brandreth-Poynter GBBO 2019 and winner of Christmas Bake Off 2020, and James Hillery from 2017 GBBO who also appeared on Christmas Bake Off in 2020.
So, what is she doing after 2018 GBBO?
Ruby stuck in the media as she frequently hosted cookery segments for Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch.
Subsequently, after the show, she has landed a few collaborative works after she shot to fame in 2018. Ruby partnered with Tilda, producer of rice. She also got into writing and has written monthly columns for GQ and also contributes to the online channel “Tastemade.”
Moreover, Ruby also started her career as a beauty, fitness, and health influencer. She started advocating cruelty-free products. Whereas, she is also eagerly promoting “Women in Business.”
Furthermore, other collaborative works of Ruby also include promoting laser eyes surgery from Ultralase Eye Clinics Ltd which she got herself. She got the LASEK treatment that has changed her lifestyle and has now partnered with Ultra Lase.
After the show, Ruby had a ‘dream day’ to appear alongside heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua as well as chef Jamie Oliver during a corporate event for Land Rover in the capital. She partnered with the Construction Industry Training Board and encouraged women to join the construction sector.

For a full-time job, Ruby Bhogal worked as a project manager. She juggled her work at Network Rail and her passion for baking and grabbing all the opportunities that came along her way after the show. About her amateur baking gig before even joining the show, she had only revealed it to her boss Suresh Kavia, her project manager Gerry Bona, and a member of Network Rail’s communications team Liam Farrell.
Ruby started her career in the world of construction in 2013. She graduated from Liverpool John Moores University and earned her masters in architecture. The Ascot native revealed, “Soon after my masters I was unfortunate because I was going into the construction world when there was a severe lack of jobs. The competition for people who had just graduated and were looking for jobs was just ridiculous.”
Hence, Ruby put her CV on a lot of online recruiting agencies and an agency called Talascend gave her a phone call. They offered her the opportunity to go in for an interview as a project management assistant at Network Rail, and the rail industry was something she never thought about building her career in. With nothing in had to do, she took the offer.
Also, she shared, in the three years of joining the job, Ruby worked in Warrington, Manchester, Liverpool, and Wigan. She took a vacation of half a year out and returned back to London which followed six months of unemployment.
Additionally, it was there she discovered her love for baking which was the start of it all. Ruby found a bread book that her sister had bought her years ago. She again started her career in the rail industry after Crossrail called her for a role of working with clients on the operations and maintenance side of the megaproject.
In July 2017, an opportunity arose with Network Rail in the delivery of the Thameslink project. She seized the chance and has been with Thameslink ever since, getting involved in a number of significant projects along the way.
Then, Ruby started her career as a scheme project manager on the Canal Tunnels between the East Coast mainline near Kings Cross station and the Thameslink route at St Pancras.
