Meet Lisa Owens, The Woman Married To Simon Bird
Simon Bird is currently married to his long-time girlfriend turned wife Lisa Owens. Simon reportedly proposed to Lisa during a romantic trip to Paris before they hitched in 2012.
The Sun previously reported that the actor got down on one knee to ask Lisa to marry him and was rewarded with a tearful ‘yes’. A source told the outlet: ‘Simon took Lisa to Paris without any mention of plans to propose, but he had it all worked out. He bought a ring – sticking to traditions and spending a month’s wages on the sparkler.”
The source added, “They went for dinner and he asked her to marry him. Lisa immediately said yes. They are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together.”
The married couple reportedly met each other at Cambridge University while they were performing a sketch – which was written by his good friend and Inbetweeners co-star Joe Thomas, who plays Simon Cooper – about a couple having a row.
Simon also opened up about being in love in 2011. He said, “I have a girlfriend who I was with before The Inbetweeners started, I’m not out on the town looking for ladies.”
Simon Bird was born on August 19, 1984, in Guildford, Surrey, England, UK as the third of four children. His parents are both economics professors and two of his siblings are doctors.
He attended Royal Grammar School in Guildford, Surrey, England. He also enrolled at Queen’s College, Cambridge, and was a member of the Cambridge acting association “Footlights” along with fellow Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas. Simon was the president of the association in 2006.
He is mostly known for The Inbetweeners 2 (2014), The Inbetweeners (2011), and The Inbetweeners (2008).
“My career [depends on] being able to wriggle free of being Will from The Inbetweeners. I’ve been trying to escape his shadow,” Simon told NME during his interview in 2021. “The need to [escape our characters] has become apparent to all four of us [in The Inbetweeners] over time. When the films came out and they were hits, we all hoped they would lead to new opportunities for us. The reality is there’s not much comedy made in this country. If you’re associated with a big role, I can understand why the makers of other series wouldn’t want you. You’re bringing baggage with you and they’re trying to create new characters. It makes total sense…”
How Many Kids Do Simon Bird And His Wife, Lisa Owens Have?
Lisa Owens and her actor husband Simon Bird are parents to two children.
They welcomed their daughter Laura in early 2016 but only revealed welcoming their child six months after their first baby’s birth. At the time, he joked that his son was “quite judgemental”. “His kid is actually great,” said Tom Rosenthal. “He’s got this bobbing head. And he’s got this ‘Simon Bird’ slightly judgmental air about him.”
After Tom spilled the beans, Simon added: “He is quite judgmental. He’s only six months.” “He’s only six months old but I feel like he’s already patronizing me. It’s great,” said Tom.
In 2020, Simon talked to Essential Surrey and discussed fatherhood. Speaking about his wife and kid, he said, “At the moment I am mostly spending time playing ‘Go Fish’ with my two-year-old and four-year-old and hours of draw-along videos on YouTube – so there is very little work happening. During the lockdown, it has been hard to find the headspace – or actual physical space to be creative in any way. Even doing promotion for the film has been tricky as I have to keep kicking my wife and kids out into the garden.”
This means that the couple welcomed their second child in 2018.
