Taylor Sele is taking on the role of Jacque on Netflix’s upcoming show Survival of the Thickest. Created by comedian Michelle Buteau, and writer-producer Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (New Girl), the show is based on Buteau’s book of the same name.
The show’s synopsis reads, “Mavis, an assistant fashion stylist in Manhattan, aspires to become a lead stylist — and her hot photographer boyfriend, Jacque, is supporting her every step of the way. He even helps her secure an interview at Essence. Despite all his professions of love and devotion, though, Mavis later finds him in bed with another woman.”
It continues further, “So she moves out of their luxury apartment in Manhattan and into cramped quarters in Brooklyn with an oddball roommate. It’s pretty rough — and being a single thirtysomething can be awkward — but Mavis is committed to enjoying her life and making waves in the fashion industry — even without the leg up from Jacque. Luckily, her best friends Khalil and Marley are there every step of the way to encourage her to be her best self… or to let her know when she’s being completely unhinged.”
The show comes from A24. On Jan. 24, Deadline reported that Netflix had given Survival of the Thickest a series order with Buteau playing the leading character. The show will premiere on 13 July 2023.

Yes, a former Boston College wide receiver and standout special teams player signed a rookie free-agent contract yesterday with the Washington Redskins. Taylor had 11 receptions for 133 yards last season for the Eagles. He had 27 receptions for 296 yards during his BC career.

His father, Edwin was Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Arab Republic of Egypt. As a Cadet in the Liberian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1977, Ambassador Sele started his career in public service. In 1981, he started working formally as a research analyst.
Then, he joined the Liberian Foreign Service in 1987 as Second Secretary in the Permanent Mission of Liberia to the United Nations in New York after excelling in his role as Senior Analyst.
From there, Edwin progressed through the ranks to Minister Counselor. President Sirleaf appointed him as Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Liberian Embassy in Washington, DC in 2008 due to his diligence and patriotism.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was pleased to commission him as Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Morocco on September 6, 2013, following a distinguished career in the country’s foreign service. With an impeccable record and rights in his accomplishments towards duty, country, and both the Moroccan and Liberian communities, Ambassador Sele finished his assignment (or assignments) to Morocco, completing all tasks above and beyond.
Under the newly elected President, George Manned Weah, Ambassador Edwin Sele was appointed in June 2018 to serve as the ambassador to the Cairo, Egypt mission, where he remained until his death on 18 August 2020.
