TikToker Yung Hashtag’s sudden death surprised everyone. The TikToker’s death was likely an incident of homicide. Jefferson City Police Department launched a homicide investigation regarding his death.
Jefferson City Police Department’s FB page released a statement that read, “Investigators continue to interview witnesses to Saturday’s weapons offense. Family members have been notified and we are now able to release the name of deceased as Michael A. Burns, 27 of Jefferson City.”
It read further, “Investigators have been able to locate multiple witnesses to the incident and they are cooperating at this time. The suspect, a 38-year-old Jefferson City resident, provided a statement to officers that is consistent with witness versions. The preliminary statements have been forwarded to Cole County Prosecutors’ office for review. No other information will be released at this time.”
After his death, TikToker Yung Hashtag’s mother Kaya Staten spoke about his death. She shared that she doesn’t have nor planning to “make a GoFundMe but if you feel like you wanna help out for her or my cousins she does have CashApp $Kaya417 and Paypal @Staten1211.”
Going live on Facebook, Kaya may have shared the alleged suspect who took her son’s life.
On January 15, 2023, rumors of TikTokker’s tragic death started to circulate online. Kastro MN’Sota, a friend and fellow TikTok celebrity, shared a video yesterday confirming the terrible news.
In the TikTok, Kastro said: “I just want to be the one to come out and say that [Yung Hashtag] tragically lost his life. I don’t know the details,” adding “If you watch our content we go back and we built a relationship off this app as brothers.”
He added, “He was one of the most humble people” and asked viewers to “go show his page some love. Show his people that he was cared about.”
The TikToker joined the platform in 2017, and amassed over 500K followers on the platform and 12 million likes. He also pursued a career as a musician. Some of his hit songs re I Hate Hashtag, Make a Move, and Off the Clock and he released an album in 2020 called #WhoPoppin. He had just dropped the official music video for his song Double Cup on January 14, 2023.
Yung Hashtag also shared a promotional video for the song on Instagram the same day the video was released. Since then, a rush of heartfelt tributes and condolences have been left in the comments section by fans.
Fans have been paying tribute to Yung. One Twitter user posted, “Damn Yung Hashtag passed ts[sic] crazy.” Another fan commented on TikTok, “Damn. 😔 had to come to ur page and sad to see its true. rest easy homie,” while another wrote: “REST IN POWER.”
“RIP, sending prayers to your family and friends,” a third person added.
