Meet Patrick Xavier Clark, One Of The Murder Suspects In Rapper Takeoff Shooting
Patrick Xavier Clark, the suspect in the shooting death of Migos rapper Takeoff, has been booked. He was arrested on 1 December 2022 at 7:32 PM.
“He was charged with the murder of Takeoff,” Chief Troy Finner said in a news conference. Takeoff was shot at a party at a Houston bowling alley, in Texas, on 1 November 2022.
Click2Houston reported that Patrick was planning to flee to Mexico with a large amount of cash. A document obtained by the news outlet explained, “The defendant shot a firearm into a crowd of people and struck the complainant in the back and head, causing his death. Further, a low bond is unreasonable and insufficient to ensure the defendant’s appearance in court based on his successful efforts to obtain an expedited passport shortly after the murder and an imminent travel itinerary to Mexico.”
After the news of Patrick’s arrest, Daily Beast reported that the alleged murderer is a popular strip club promoter going by the name DJ Pat. According to the outlet, Patrick is a “well-known local promoter, who ran a strip club and had a large social media presence.” He reportedly ran “The Flame HTX, a strip club that Clark posted about regularly on social media to his 20,000-plus followers”.
Rapper Jmali told Daily Beast that he did not believe Clark was a violent person. “You could see by the reactions of everyone that we’re shocked because that’s not the type of person [Clark] is,” Jmali told The Daily Beast. “…He was about business, not violence.”
Takeoff was shot on November 1, 2022, early in the morning, according to TMZ, which broke the news first. The sad news was later confirmed to The Associated Press by a Migos official. The entertainment news website published a video of Quavo, a rapper with the Migos, arguing verbally before the shooting started.
Takeoff is watching from outside the group, but he doesn’t seem involved in the argument. Following a conversation about playing basketball, approximately 10 rounds were fired from two separate firearms, according to TMZ.
Takeoff was discovered dead at the scene, just outside the front door, according to Houston Police Sergeant Michael Arrington, who spoke at the news conference. Two additional people with non-life-threatening injuries had independently visited local hospitals. They were a male, 23, and a female, 24, respectively.
Employees said there was an “incident that occurred after the party had ended.” It was a private party. When it ended, a large group of people gathered outside the building. “It led to an argument, where the shooting took place from the disagreement,” Heavy reported.
Many of the people present fled the scene, and police are hoping they will call the homicide division or Crime Stoppers to provide “any information” or videos.
“We are looking for anything to help us,” Arrington said. “We want to find justice for this family. They are going through a lot right now.”
TMZ based its report on law enforcement sources and multiple witnesses. According to TMZ, the shooting occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m.
That’s when police “got the call for a man shot at a bowling alley called 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston,” TMZ reported. According to TMZ, Takeoff and Quavo were playing dice “when an altercation broke out” and Takeoff was shot “either in the head or near his head.”
Police claim that Takeoff was not a direct participant in the altercation even though Takeoff’s uncle and bandmate Quavo were spotted arguing with others prior to the shooting. The rapper, whose true name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot amid the commotion and was declared dead on the spot.
Cameron Joshua, who is charged with gun possession with Patrick, might cooperate as a witness in the prosecution of Patrick Xavier Clark. Joshua is believed to be one of the dozens who attended the party at 810 Billiards & Bowling that night – and who saw the violence unfold.
Prosecutors are requesting that if he is granted bail, he be put under house arrest and forbidden from communicating with Shakur Stevenson’s staff, J. Prince Jr., and his family, as well as Takeoff’s family.
