Darshana Avila was previously married to her former husband or in her words, wasband. She was in her 20s then, but they never had any children. Eventually, the marriage ended and now she seems to be single. Based on what Darshana shared with Medium, she longed for certain things in her life that she never did and on the top of the list was having a family of her own.
However, Darshana never regretted it because the trajectory in her life would’ve changed had she had any kids back then. “I am glad that didn’t happen even while I acknowledge the parts of me that yearn to be in a committed partnership and raising a child (or children) together in a wider circle of community,” she told the outlet.

Darshana Avila is an Erotic Wholeness Coach whose job is to guide women and couples in their journeys through the realms of sex, intimacy, and relationships. Trauma-informed, justice-oriented, and nature-based by her approach, she assists her clients in cultivating deep intimacy with themselves and bringing more pleasure, ease, and passion into their lives.
But before her journey into the world of erotic wholeness, Darshana worked a regular job. University of Florida alum, she studied Public Relations/Image Management and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2002. After graduation, she joined Instituto Chileno Norteamericano as head of Marketing and Public Relations. While working for the Chile-based company for 1 and a half years, Darshana was responsible for the creation and launch of a print and radio marketing campaign promoting classes for the Institute’s three locations, as well as the coordination and execution of various special events and projects, including a North American college fair and the creation of an English-language nursery school.
In 2004, Darshana started working for Randstad USA as a Sales and Service Agent. After that, she joined Ocean Om as owner and teacher. From 2005-2014 she worked for Equifax as Senior Client Relationship Manager.
Then, in 2015, her journey as a Somatic Sex and Intimacy Coach began. Darshana also facilitated workshops, run groups, and spoke to therapists and other professionals in related fields to help bridge greater understanding. Her work offered relatable and practical approaches to embracing our erotic nature as an essential aspect of our wholeness and well-being. Topics such as healing the masculine-feminine divide, healthy sexuality, cultivating true intimacy, and including conversations about sex in traditional therapy settings are among her specialties.
