A consecutive victory for team USA! Lindsey Jacobellis secured Team USA’s first and second gold medal of the 2022 Winter Olympics winning the “women’s snowboard cross” and “snowboard cross mixed team” title.

Lindsey Jacobellis’ parents, Ben and Anita Jacobellis are her biggest supporters. The two were up all night watching their daughter hit the course in China.
“It was just a dream come true. I didn’t watch it live because I don’t ever watch it live. I was hiding,” Anita shared.
Her parents even added that they had a good feeling about Lindsey’s run. Seeing their daughter doing “well and confident,” the husband-wife was sure that Lindsey would “get it done”.
And the child sure did! Lindsey, right out of the gate, never lost the lead, earning her that gold medal at the women’s snowboard cross.
“She did it. She did it and it was just so amazing,” Anita shared after the victory. As for the father, he said that they’d “been looking forward to this day for quite some time.”
Meet Lindsey Jacobellis Father, Ben Jacobellis
The proud father of the gold medalist, Ben Jacobellis had a big impact on his daughter’s passion. While Lindsey was just a child, she would often chase him down the slopes. And considering Ben wouldn’t wait for his daughter, Lindsey had to “not be afraid to go fast.”
“And my mom was always like, ‘You don’t have to stay up with them, we could go on other runs.’ And I was like, ‘No. I like going fast, I wanna stick with them,’” Lindsey recalled.
Also, back when Lindsey fell during the 2006 Olympics in Italy just moments before she was set to secure her first gold medal, her father was there to witness it. Later, he assured her that there would always be another chance. “The sky is the limit for Lindsey, you know? It always has been,” Ben shared.

According to the olympian, it was only because of her mother, she stands where she is today. “I love you so much, MOM. Thank you so much for everything that you have done for me in my life.” she once posted on Mother’s Day.
Besides being Lindsey’s “mental rock,” her mother is a fighter as well. When Lindsey was just a kid, Anita was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she completely beat by 2004.
