One of the American Idol’s season 21’s Top 12 contestant Haven Madison is the daughter of Cortni Roy (her mother). She has been very supportive throughout her daughter’s reality competition journey.
During the Top 20 announcement, the proud mother posted on her FB, “Be sure to tune in tomorrow to see if Haven makes Top 20. If she does she needs your votes!!!! So proud of my girl!!!!” After Top 12, Cortni took to her IG and wrote, “About last night….. what the heck?!? So proud of @havenmadisonsings !!! Seeing her sing 15 on that huge stage! WOW!! Clear your calendars people next Sunday for the LIVE vote! Ahhhhh!!!.”

Yes, Cortni Roy is still married to Haven Madison’s dad Jason Roy. Cortni and Jason reportedly exchanged their wedding vows on 4 August 2001. They reportedly met each other while she served as a Summer Youth Intern at Winter Park Baptist Church in the late 90s.

Avery’s birthday is on 7 August. On his birthday post in 2022, Cortni shared, “It was a hard year for Avery. He battled depression and suicidal thoughts. I’m so proud of how he fought and how he advocated for himself to get counseling and take medication. For his birthday I just want to be honest and share with whoever may need to hear this.”
She added, “As a parent, I couldn’t understand why my son was depressed and wanted to die. I felt shame. I thought I had failed. The tension this put on our marriage was tough. This was by far the scariest year of my life. But what I’ve learned this year is that clinical depression is real. There is no why. It’s ok to seek counseling and it’s ok to take medication.”
Jason calls himself a “husband, father, worship leader, artist.” He is a member and founder of a Christian rock band named Building 429. He was also named the Dove Award New Artist of the Year in 2005. The band’s song “Where I Belong” was named BMI Song of the Year in 2012 and sat atop the Billboard Christian Song chart for 15 weeks.
His band received a Grammy nomination in 2013 for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for We Won’t Be Shaken.
