The Survivor star added, “When Luca was born that fear got worse. Daily I would think of the “what ifs.” I can honestly say it’s been a good 3 years since I’ve had those thoughts. I’m not saying that relapse can’t or won’t happen, but I believe that we reach a point in our recovery where that obsession is lifted.”
Carolyn continued further, “Whether that obsession is the drug or the obsession with someone else’s addiction. Last night Mike reminded me that his sober bday was tomorrow. Naturally, I freaked out because I had forgotten. I obviously went out as fast as I could and got balloons and cake and decorated lol. But it made me realize that this is what recovery is. It’s a lifestyle.”
She ended the post, “Days become months…months become years. You get busy living…truly living. Every day is not perfect, but life would be absolute hell if Mike was high on heroin. Mike has come a long way and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Happy 7 years sober.”
They have been together for more than a decade and share one son named Luca. The couple has been engaged to each other since 8 March 2014. Luca turned 9 years old in August 2022.
